Where the Wild Things Are Trailer

Chekov's Phaser

Waiting to be relevant.
Fleet Captain
Trailer

Saw this with the Harry Potter previews. Is anyone else excited about this classic children's story. It's been awhile since I've read Where the Wild Things Are, but I might have to go back and read it. The trailer looks awesome, and I have high hopes that Spike Jonze's unique film style can be faithful to the books own unique style.

btw the music used for the trailer is from one of my favorite bands, Arcade Fire.

It's interesting to see a modern-day monster/adventure movie with no noticeable CGI.

I would not have thought that particular book was well-suited for a screen adaptation, but this movie looks like it has heart. It might work.

I'll be seeing it, for sure. It looks like an interesting adaptation and I've heard some interesting behind-the-scenes stories. Apparently the monsters are mostly people in costumes, with the faces enhanced with CGI to make the more expressive.

I'm always a bit concerned when somebody takes a beloved 20- or 30-page book and turns it into a full-length movie (can you say "padding"?), but I must say, it looked fantastic. So I might try to overcome my prejudice.

I'm a little concerned because the trailer didn't really show any kind of story. Hopefully it's not just 1.5 hours of the kid running around.
Knowing Hollywierd it will be.

What an empty statement. First off, it's "weird". Secondly, no Hollywood does not make childrens films like that. Don't make stupid, vapid comments if you have nothing to back it up with.

What I gathered from the trailer and some pre-release materials is that there are problems with the little boy's home life invloving his parents and he escapes into the world of the wild things as a flight of fantasy.

I saw the trailer back in April at StarFest here in Denver. Looks fantastic, and one I'll take the family to see! :techman:

"...and they roared their terrible roar..."

Yep, I'll be seeing this one...my son was impressed enough to hunt down his copy and read it a few times again :techman:
