Where on the USS Discovery is Pike’s Ready Room?

Reminds me of this kind of dancing...

Heh, I'd separately concluded that it must be atop and behind the bridge in the Tech forum thread. But the producers' note that it was simply not where the old one was is a little concerning. How much thought did they put into it, I wonder? Did they just say "eh, it's somewhere else" or did the responder simply not know where precisely it was?

@Mark_Nguyen I went back looking for in-episode screen shots to see if I could find those windows. They seem to have first appeared in the establishing shot of "New Eden." Even if they were in some previous episodes, it wasn't "Brother" and that most likely means at least the Production Designer and Special Effects teams probably intended them to represent the new ready room. I would not be surprised if we get an establishing shot over the next season that either pulls back from or zooms into those windows, connecting the inside and outside of the ship!

That would be Christmas. I've taken a quick look myself and don't see any specific shots where the windows up there are lit; the model may have them, or it could be a sly modification of an area that we simply haven't seen up close. As with every starship ever, Discovery has certain angles where she looks cooler and the guys compositing the shots do so with that in mind. I guess a view of the exterior with that area in good relief just doesn't exist yet. Here's hoping they have a reason to now!

EDIT - in "Brother", right after Discovery drops out of warp next to the asteroid, you get a clear aft shot and the windows are there and lit. It's also visble, however briefly, in the season preview at the end of the same episode. We know they at least re-textured the CG model this season, so I'm guessing that's where this thing came to prominence.

Mark, here is the photo from the top of New Eden I posted on another thread:

@Styleset Latest episode shows the warp star streaks moving directly backward. I think this all but confirms the location. Really hoping for a zoom in/out to really tie the interior and exterior together

Yep, I saw it too. Only difference: I think the ship has 5 windows and the ready room has three. I wonder if the other two are Pike’s quarters.

Cool scenes this week: apparently Pike's ready room is open to all visitors, who get to enjoy their morning coffee briefing even with the CO absent.

Oddly enough, Saru speaks of Burnham leaving Lorca's old ready room for the bridge as a maneuver of some significance (that is, an act of abandoning Saru), even though it only involves going through one door. Burnham really should reassure him by stating this fact!

I thought they were going forward, meaning the ready room was the deck immediately below the bridge

No, the stars were streaking backward. Also, if it were located in those windows below the bridge, you would see the inner wall of the inner saucer ring.

For example, you can see if you were standing in those windows, a large chunk of your view would be blocked by the inner wall.

Whereas in the show, it's completely unobstructed. The slope of the wall and outer hull is also a too steep to be located anywhere on the sphere section.

Actually, you know what? I rewatched the scene and I still saw them streaking backward, but if I focused hard enough, I could see them going forwards as well. I could even switch it back and forth. It's like that optical illusion. Without focusing I immediately see them as going backward, but who knows. The fact that we can't see any part of the hull out the window says to me it's above and behind the bridge, which would have an unobstructed view. But this all remains to be seen.
