What became of the role of yeoman after the TOS era? Did technological changes render their jobs obsolete? Did their job title change?
Likely more use of computer programs and data managers to provide the automation to the day to day operations. Instead of a Yeoman or Secretary managing the captain's schedule, and bringing appropriate paperwork the job was moved to more electronic PADD type reports the captain would review from department heads and the executive officer. What became of the role of yeoman after the TOS era? Probably because it wasn't recognized as an immediate need. Archer also launched earlier than planned and they had to learn as they went. How come NX-01 didn't have them?
And really, I suspect the main reason why we don't see yeoman in the modern shows is because the writers don't understand how to distinguish the role of an assistant from a second in command.
They're basically clerical staff. What exactly were Rand's duties supposed to be? Is a Yeoman like an Adjutant?

Not something we normally see on Trek. But we've seen some XO perform these tasks.Adjutants coordinate administrative matters for Marine Corps staff sections and external agencies at the staff level. They ensure that every Marine in their command has administrative resources both for day-to-day tasks and long-term career progression. Adjutants supervise the execution of administrative policies. They receive and route correspondence, preparing responses to any special correspondence. They also manage their unit's legal matters and monitor fitness reports, among other administrative duties.[3]
The executive officer is the billet of the officer who is second-in-command. An XO is assigned to all ships, aviation squadrons, and shore units and installations, and is responsible to the captain for all ship's work, drills, exercises, personnel organization, and the policing and inspection of the ship. When the ship goes to action stations, the XO confirms that the ship actually is ready for combat and reports this to the captain.

I think in addition to driving the ship Leslie Crusher might have made a good Yeoman for Picard. Kind of like an older version of Naomi's relationship with Janeway.
