Where does this sucess of the movie leave Picard, Data & the TNG?

They can make cameos in Star Trek computer games.

Seriously, given their mediocre success at the box office (mostly through no fault of their own), I doubt we will see the TNG crew again.

The Sisko, however, is a pan-temporal being now - he can show up anywhere. ;)

In the alternate 24th century Picard has hair and says 'punch it!' instead of 'engage'.
 Ha Ha! I don't know what's worse -- "punch it" or "engage"...

...at least we only had to hear "punch it" once, and it probably is not the normal manner in which Pike gives the command to "go".
I loved "Punch it." I thought it was great.

Every Captain needs their line.
Yeah -- it was good as a one-time deal. It did establish the "good-natured folksiness" of the character. I didn't dislike its use in the film, but I would hate it if it gets used again.

If someone in the next film and says it two or three more times, then I will dislike it.

That's actually a very interesting idea. I suppose a good story could be written around Sisko and this Abramstrek crew -- although we don't really need another 24th century figure coming through spatial anamolies and into the 23rd century.

But just for shits and giggles: if I were to cast Sisko, I would say Lawrence Fisburne (the food buffet of the wormhole gods is bountiful)

Key elements of nuTNG (aka, The Next, Next Generation) . . .

-The Enterprise D will be 10 km long with a crew of 10,000.
-Captain Picard will be played by Vin Diesel.
-Instead of "Engage," the Captain will order, "Move it, asshole!"
-Data will be 10 feet tall and covered with chrome for more dramatic lens flare.
-A Borg cube will appear from the future and suck Ferenigar into a black hole. No one will care.
-Deanna Troi will be able to kill with a single thought.
-Geordi LaForge won't be blind, but he will have a slight limp.
-Wesley Crusher dies in the pilot episode.
-Hugh Jackman will play the part of Commander Riker. Yes, he will have the Wolverine claws but fake an American accent.
-Spock (well into his second century) passes on serving as an Ambassador and instead, goes on the talk-show circuit to hawk his book - "I May or May Not Be Spock."
- Worf suffers from self-esteem issues and spends way too much time on the holodeck.

I'd love to see a new version of TNG grounded in this same universe. Bryan Singer as director, anyone? I say that because J.J. was more about TOS then he was TNG, but Singer is a huge TNG fan. Just have J.J. produce so we still get his input (and keep Singer from doing another Superman Returns).

In the next film, Pike says "Punch-Out," and the viewscreen switches to the Wii where Pike and Sulu play the Wii Punch-Out game.

I dont think we've seen the end of the TNG universe, though I doubt we will see any more TNG in theaters. With the success of this new movie I'd bet well see a TV series sometime down the line and in that series I can esaily see them working in a TNG cameo at some point

Excuse me, I liked Superman Returns, as did a lot of critics and people.

I think we'll see some parts of then in the future. Most probably some of the characters at a very, very young age.

I think it'd be cool if they incorporated some main character or relative/descendent of a main character where the same actor plays that character.

Much like Brent Spiner in that Enterprise ep where he played a Descendent of Dr Soong.

Ya know what'll be cool?

If they make a Dax host a lead character in one of the next movies.
Was Jadzia and Ezri the only Dax hosts who were starfleet officers?

Although I do enjoy TNG and its related spinoffs, it took this movie (and my revisiting TOS by just sitting and re-watching a lot of the episodes before seeing the movie) to show how bland it was, for the most part.

Yeah, there were adventures (and the pilot for VOY did have some TOS style to it - some, mind you), but it was tempered to a level that was laid back too much.

I enjoyed TNG very much; and still like it. I watched Voyager less so, but you're so right. TOS is LIGHT YEARS AHEAD in EVERY WAY but one--the budget and F/X. But they beat all incarnations hands down with creativity.

The pace, the humor, the fun---all beats TNG.

Think of how CREATIVE the old show was compared to ENT-and with popsicle sticks and gum basically. ENT had all this modern computer F/X equiptment at their disposal and what did they do? Not much.

There's no doubt that TOS is remarkable for how much it accomplished with so little. And by the time VOY and ENT were made, the franchise was stuck in blatant creative rut.

Because of those later shows it is easy to forget how good and how much fun TNG and DS9 were in their day. Those shows were great Trek and great television. Later failures don't eclipse that, at least not to my mind.
