Why do you people care about a cat when we could be discussing TARGS?!? This is Star Trek Goddammit!
Spot even made it to the big screen.
Twice.Although its almost a blink-and-you'll-miss-her cameo in Nemesis, and only then being cradled by B-4 (no scenes with Data).
How old would Spot be at that point?
Where did Spot come from? Didn't your parents tell you about the bird-cats and the cat-bees?![]()
I always thought the writing staff missed a great opportunity to establish Spot as Dr. Soong's cat, and that Data had to take the animal back with him to the Enterprise after Soong died.
Thinking about it more now, the final draft of "Data's Day" was being written just as "Brothers" aired. They could have conceivably shot some 2nd Unit inserts of Spot sitting on a table in Soong's lab or something, watching Soong and Data talk in their earlier scenes. Then maybe another cutaway of the cat running off frightened when Lore starts throwing stuff around... and finally a shot of the cat licking Soong's hand as he dies.
This would have perfectly established the cat, so that when you see him in "Data's Day" you go, "Hey! Data adopted the cat!"![]()
Touche, my dear! That's what I should have said! The Enterprise crew members from the planet Melmac love that menu program.Where did Spot come from? Food replicator. He was in the Ferengi Delicatessen Menu file.
Didn't Spot have kittens? What happened to them?
Data's dark secret!
The reason Spot kept changing appearance and even gender is, that Data was exceptionally bad at taking care of cats. It actually was different cats with him naming all of them Spot and pretending.... nothing... happened.![]()
Ro Laren said:Wow, I missed Spot's cameo in Nemesis. What scene was she in? On a side note, if I get an orange tabby cat (which I doubt I would since I'm partial to Russian Blues), I would name him / her Spot!
"Strength is irrelevant. Resistance is futile. We wish to improve ourselves. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service ours...Freedom is irrelevant. Self-determination is irrelevant. You must comply."
Presumably, Spot is from one of the shape shifter planets. It's amazing that nobody notices the changes in breed or sex. Perhaps some telepathic powers, too?
