Where did Nero / the Narada go for 25 years? (spoilers)

Re: So what was Nero up too for 25 years???

They didn't have to fix it. It regenerated by itself like all good Borg tech based ships.

If that's actually serious, maybe it wasn't such a bad idea to cut that out.
It would have taken too long and as someone has said, cost at the boxoffice as a result. I as a fan would like the 10 minutes in the DVD. I mean it seemed nuts that Nero had such a powerful machine for 25 years without using it to annihilate the Federation. Then again ST was so fast that I didn't wonder much about those 25 years until after the movie ended. The movie was probably just more streamlined without it.

And as we can see it didn't' hurt the box office returns not to know what Nero was up to.
To be fair, the most he could have really been doing is blowing up ships and poking holes in planets... he didn't have most of his destructive capabilities until he captured Spock at the end of those 25 years. And, as Trek hs shown time and time again, all of the big fleet killers will eventually get blown up.... usually by one ship. ;)

Re: So what was Nero up too for 25 years???

Borg tech just sounds so fanwanky, and I doubt it would have helped capture that casual viewership either.

Re: So what was Nero up too for 25 years???

Yeah, I'll chime in on a serious note to agree that I too am glad there was no Borg enhancement crap thrown into the movie. Besides, in the twenty fourth century, it can be assumed that just about everything utilizes Borg technology; Since the mighty Janeway pretty much assimilated them by the end of Voyager.

Re: So what was Nero up too for 25 years???

Just think, we could have had a Romulan using Borg technology captured by a Klingon before blowing up Vulcan using "red matter" which created a black hole which opened a time rift in which the actions of the Romulan ship created an alternate timeline 25 years before old Spock exited the same rift. **BRAIN EXPLODES**

Re: So what was Nero up too for 25 years???

He was busy filming and marketing a fitness video called "24th Century Guide To Keeping Fit". Apparently it was a hit on the Pakled homeworld.

Re: So what was Nero up too for 25 years???

In the book does Nero ever bother to tell the Romulan Empire what to do in the next 100 years?

For that matter, what happened in the prime time to keep Romulus around?

Re: So what was Nero up too for 25 years???

Endless choruses of I'll Take You Home Kathleen. By the time Spock showed up, they were out for blood.

Re: So what was Nero up too for 25 years???

You know, they should have just went for it and had him reading Moby Dick.

Actually, the smartest move he could have made would be to take the ship back to Romulus as a gift to the military. Luckily he was too crazy for that and for that reason we had a movie. ;)

Re: So what was Nero up too for 25 years???

I just assumed they spent 25 years outfitting hteir mininig vehicle for the sake of planet exploding.

Re: So what was Nero up too for 25 years???

He was in KLINGON prision. Damn J.J. editing all the GOOD stuff out!:D
Now you have a reason to buy the director's cut.
I'll be one of the first to resereve that baby on ''BOTH'' blu-ray & DVD versions, as lons as it's the EXTENDED EDITIONS!:techman:
