Oh yes you really are! :techman:

But it's not only her beauty. She's smart, curious, brave, strong-willed and determined. That, plus her abilities to solve problems by simply go around them and attacking them from another angle makes her an unique and very likeable character, one of Star Trek's best!

There's also something about Jennifer Lien's voice that's so...I'm not sure how to describe it. Comforting? Reassuring?

It seems like I remember some of the reviews of Voyager in it's first season saying her voice made them think of warm honey. Or something like that. It may have been a TV guide review.

Yes she has a low voice but on Voyager it had very little range. It was either speaking softly and quietly or that horrible screech noise.

I just watched "Warlord" and wow did Lien show us a completely different character than Kes, while still keeping some parts of her. I admit the story wasn't exactly groundbreaking but her performance definitely was.
As for her voice, I don't know, I find it soothing.

I found Warlord to be an example of her limited range. She was fine when she didn't have to emote much but in an episode like this it showed that she couldn't handle the more intense scenes. They always felt forced and unnatural

I respectfully disagree. Perhaps it seems that way to you because until then, Kes had a smaller role in the episodes? This is the first episode where she's in the front and center of the main plot instead of being in a supportive role or becoming the focus closer to the end. I really like "Persistence of vision" but it didn't become a "Kes episode" until the last third of it.

I just always felt that she wasn't able to convey the stronger emotions well. With most of the other actors everything flowed from them seemingly with no effort, they completely became their character. Whether they were pushing buttons in the background or leading an emotional scene they became their character. With Kes I always felt like I was watching someone trying to act.

I've never felt that. While it's true that Kes has a seemingly more subdued and quiet character than B'Elanna or Janeway or Tom or Harry and Chakotay even, I quite like that. She doesn't need to shout and scream to get the attention on her. She has that 'eye catching' quality where she can be in the corner of the shot, quiet but still command attention with the way she'll look at someone else, you know?

I felt her voice resonated actually, conveyed almost a spirituality. Like a hum. Totally feminine but cooly mature given the character's limited years. It was a good choice or a nice natural fit for the actress. With those pixie ears and even tinker bell clothes, Kes could have easily been too chirpy.

To me it felt like her voice belonged on someone more mature. It sounded odd coming out of her
