It wasn't said on screen though was it?
I liked the longer one slightly better but neither were flatteringYes! Her Andy Warhol wigs were shite. By Kes' last season on the show, though, before the long haired wig came along, her short hair wigs looked much better on her ... nearly flattering. Téa once described Kes as resembling a Cocker Spaniel, in her long-haired phase. And I've never forgotten it ...
The name of Harry's father was also established in the book "Pathways" by Jeri Taylor. We know Harry's parents names, thanks memoryalpha
I used to have a cocker spaniel...lovely little dogThis is true, those godawful cocker spaniel wigs make the short ones look quite fetching!
But really, they didn't have better wigs down there at Paramount? I didn't even know Kate was wearing wigs until I read it here! Sadly we couldn't have such illusions with Kes.
The way they wrote her character off left no way to bring the character back except for flashbacks or dream sequences. Even then it's archival footage. When Sasha Alexander, who played Kate Todd in NCIS left the series, it was all clear informtion and clear statements from those involved.
Wasn't Jennifer Lien's own hair long enough to hide the absence of the Ocampan ears when they had to stop using them (because she suffered an allergy, right?).But really, they didn't have better wigs down there at Paramount? Not exactly right! It's times like this I think I'm the only person that actually liked Kes' season 2 hair/wig. It's cute, it suits her and it makes her resemble a fairy in conjunction with her cute dresses/outfits and her inherent goodness and fairness.

I figured Kate Mulgrew wore wigs because there is one episode where she has short hair before she wore it short for good in season 4. Does anyone recall it? She had short hair in the scene where she's reprimanding Tom and Neelix for their hair pasta fight.
I think the pixie look is what they were going for but what they got was Ken doll plastic hair helmet. It's times like this I think I'm the only person that actually liked Kes' season 2 hair/wig. There are always better ways to bring back a character in a sci-fi story than in a present day setting. In Denise Crosby's case, you had alternate realities and then a look-alike daughter for Tasha Yar.I didn't like that they killed off Kate in NCIS just because it left no way to bring back the character. What if she had regretted her decision to quit, like Denise Crosby did?
Maybe for some reason they just couldn't use the wig the days she filmed those scenes.Yes, Janeway has somewhat shorter hair in the episode "Parturition". When I first watched that episode I saw the change and therefore I wondered why she was back with her previous hairstyle in the next episode. Her hair must grow extremely fast!![]()
... Agreed! In the deed, agreed! Kes' elfin outfits before the catsuit came along were cute -- they were very femme, and she always wore them well. It's times like this I think I'm the only person that actually liked Kes' season 2 hair/wig. Troi 2.0?She looked like an idiot. Super smart woman absorbing knowledge like a sponge, psychic powers, apparently Troi 2.0 in being able to utter bland observations that bring the crew amazing psychological succour, brave explorer who did what no one in her species has done for millienia and escaped into the sun and.. they dress up her like frakking Tinkerbelle.
Others have done what she did. There were those that left with susperia, and those that left for the surface before Kes did. The nurse in Caretaker said she knew some people who went to the surfaceShe looked like an idiot. There was certainly a missed opportunity with her exploring the replicator more. Even if it was just one time early on, as we did with Neelix.Jennifer looked very cute in her Kes outfits and I love seeing her in them. Whilst I understand wanting to go for a signature "look," even I must admit that her elfish clothes did kind of blur, with their sameness. Her signature style, should've been cuteness, perhaps, rather than faeries, specifically ... exlusively. She's not required to wear a uniform, so to have her dress in a singular pattern all the time, in all her shows does make it seem as though she's only got a couple dresses in her closet and that's all. Kes is fully alien, this is true, but she's also a young woman and would want to dress accordingly. Maybe Han Solo HAS to wear that same getup ALL the time, or it's just "not" Han Solo. But Kes could've been allowed to dress cute in a variety of ways, without "losing character."
We never really saw how Kes reacted to the technical wonders of Voyager. It wasn't showed in the same way as we were allowed to see Neelix's reaction when he was beamed to the Transporter Room where Tuvok waited for him. There was certainly a missed opportunity with her exploring the replicator more. Even if it was just one time early on, as we did with Neelix.
I still think it's funny that Neelix who has his own space ship, has interacted with countless alien species, has held many jobs and explored space, was in complete awe when he first came aboard Voyager. But Kes who was only a year ols and lived underground acted like it was nothing special
Considering the way she left the show Denise should be very grateful to have been brought backThere are always better ways to bring back a character in a sci-fi story than in a present day setting. In Denise Crosby's case, you had alternate realities and then a look-alike daughter for Tasha Yar.

In the episode Before and After, the scene in Janeway's office when Kes is still traveling backward through time. It's a re-do of the scene when she and Neelix first told Janeway they wanted to come along. Did anyone else think something looked different about Kes' skin tone in this re-done scene. I never noticed it in any other scene but this.
