Where did Kahless go?

Divine

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
I thought at the end of Left Hand of Destiny, Kahless wen't on a pilgrimage or something and said he would return when the empire needed him again. Then in A Time to Sow, he's already back. Do we ever figure out where he went and why he's now back?

Miami. Even in the 24th century, they welcome lots of foreigners, and there is much battle in the streets.

There'll be more about Kahless in A Time for War, a Time for Peace, the final volume of the series. Keep reading. :D

Actually, you'll be surprised to learn that…
He went to Disneyland!

He moved to Vegas, where he's currently doing two shows a night at the Sahara (three on Saturdays).

I think part of the reason for the jokes is that in a series like the last three A Time To... books it's generally a good idea to finish the series, or story arch, before you ask a question like that because more often than not the question will be answered eventually.

Canon wise they never say but I think the TNG novel Kahless shows the events of Kahless's life before he leaves. Been a while since I read the book so can't remember if they say where he was going in it.

Divine isn't referring to the original Kahless from Klingon history, but the clone from "Rightful Heir," who buggered off at the end of The Left Hand of Destiny Book 2 (which takes place in late 2375 shortly after the end of the Dominion War), but had returned in time for the Homecoming/The Farther Shore duology of Voyager novels (which take place in mid-2378 or so, after Voyager came home) and was mentioned again in the early part of the A Time to... series, which Divine's in the middle of, and which covers 2379 (leading up to Nemesis).

The Kahless clone plays a decent-sized role in the finale, A Time for War, a Time for Peace, and part of my goal with that book was to explain the apparent discrepancy between his appearances in TLHOD and the VOY novels.

That's what this is all about. :D Canon-wise, Kahless only appeared the once anyhow, in "Rightful Heir," though he was mentioned in "The Way of the Warrior."

Kahless in Voy-r? Ugh, what for....Well I guess I'll find out soon when I read them later this year.

Oops sorry my mistake. :o

He doesn't actually appear in VOY-R. At the end of TLHOD in late 2375, Kahless goes underground in order to let Martok establish his government. In the VOY-R, B'Elanna's mom tells her that she had met with Kahless circa VOY's Barge of the Dead in early 2376, just a few weeks later. That's the discrepancy KRAD speaks of.

He was at my house but we had to kick him out because he kept eating all of my wife's Quaker Oats and she needs them to make cookies.

That and it was hell getting the guy to bathe. I mean, you can only hear, "This is the aroma of battle! The stench of conquest! Breath deep or begone!" so many times before you want stuff that freaking bat'leth up

well

Anyway. We're glad he went back.

^That is more likely simply Kirk's mental image of Kahless, and not the genuine article. After all, if Kirk didn't exactly what Kahless looked like and was only familiar with smooth-brow Klingons, then how could the Excalbians pull an acurate representation out of Kirk's mind?
