Where are my NaNoWriMo peeps at?

Okay, I hit 36k last night. I want my final tally for this 1st draft to be about 89k. I decided to write a sci-fi book this go around cause I'm a total idiot  so this means a high word count by the time I'm through. If I decide I want to send this to an agent or editor I'm gunning for 95 by then.

I'm on 39,619 words, I have really slowed down recently because I have hit a very thick brick wall on my initial idea. So I'm writing a bit of fanfic to get the creative juices flowing again.

41019 as of tonight. Here's an excerpt from my story, earlier from when a dwarf appears:

The Dwarf was short like all dwarves and had a look of fierce anger in his eyes, his face shaped seemingly into perpetual anger as he looked up towards the gang of intruders. His choice of attire was not standard among dwarves. Instead, he wore a pink tutu to the behest of his peers.

“What! What the bloody hell are you all staring at?” yelled the dwarf, looking like he could burst a vein at any minute.

“Oh my, a real live dwarf!” exclaimed Ailayah with glee, and she laughed as she noticed his attire. “Why, you are an original one!”

“Shut up!”, exclaimed the dwarf. “Shut up, shut up, shut up!”

Then later in the same scene:

“Chromatia!”, exclaimed the dwarf, this time with a twinkle of recognition in his eyes, “Ahh, such extravangance! Your lands are in danger?”

“Both Arlonia and the Barren Lands”, explained Ailayah, “And in extension, the dwarven lands.”

“Rather ironic, is it not?” asked the dwarf. “Such a long long time ago, a man stole what was rightfully ours. Our trust was misplaced, and the lands are now in danger. A rather sad tale.”

“Yes”, Ailayah replied. “You must help us. We hear there is a path through your caves that leads to the Barren Lands.”

“Bah! What you are asking is not such an easy thing to ask for, Lady! We have trusted humans in the past, and look what they have done. Technology everywhere! What a disgrace. It was our secret. We trusted the human with it and he broke that trust. You see now?” He looked to Charles and Thomas with narrowed eyes, “You see what your kind has done?!”

“We are terribly -”, Charles began to say.

“YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND ANYTHING!”, the dwarf said pointing his fingers at Charles. “Your kind does not understand the pride that us dwarves have.”

“Does it include that kind of pride?”, Thomas laughed, pointing at the dwarf’s tutu.

“SHUT UP!”, the dwarf yelled out, “ONE MORE WORD ABOUT THAT, AND YOU DIE!”
I'm having way too much fun with this :D

Eureka! I'm done!. I forgot to post that I was done last night lol. I'm not even done with my story though. I still need to write an end. The last scene I wrote practically wrote itself. I meant to have some bandits ambush my characters, but the characters started fighting amongst themselves instead. Damn dimwits!

Here is the sentence that put me over 50K:

Excerpt from A Separate Breed

Holding the little flashlight in his teeth, he waved the wand over the area between Erikson’s bare shoulder blades, and despite what he suspected, was still shocked to hear the scanner emit an electronic chirp that indicated it had found what it was looking for.

And here's the cover I made for it:

^ Nice cover!

I went ahead and validated last night to avoid the crowds/ server crashes that'll probably get going on Monday night. I'm at 62k, and I'm on track to completely finish by New Year's Eve.

Damn, I hit the doldrums in Act II, and I wandered around until I decided to come up with some supporting characters and do character work on them.
