Where are my NaNoWriMo peeps at?

Got a little over 2k done yesterday. But I am running a day behind so I need more writing time and we've not got the new place straight yet, and I'm looking for a new job. I hope this novel will be around the 80k mark when done, so 50k in a month will do nicely.

So, three days in and I'm at 8,470 words. I'm still reasonably happy with the story too, although I haven't read back a thing which I've written over the past three days.

Total: 6138. Just finished my prologue clocking in at 11 pages and I'm now into my first chapter. My characters are now on a steam train headed towards their destination. Or hell, whichever comes first.

I'm not going to even think about reading over what I've written. I'm trying my absolute hardest to not beat myself up over pacing on this thing. 7848 words written so far.

See, that's my problem. I'm an editor at heart, so it's really hard for me to just write without over-thinking everything.

^^^ I rewrite as I write, so it's been a struggle to just lay down text and not look back. I feel your pain.

Mr. Editor usually screams at me that my stuff is crap, so I sent him off on a 30 day vacation.

Writing my first ever fight scene tomorrow. Im going to spend some extra mulling time on this one. It wasn't in my outline. I decided tonight it needed one.

I hope I get to see some of yours some day, because like I said, I love the idea. :D

This morning I have outlined four more chapters which should be good for another 10,000 words or so.

I actually feel a bit behind this year; by the end of day three last year, I was on 13,000 words!

I am well behind with 3398 words done. I'm looking for a new job, working, getting the new apartment straight and trying to write a novel in a month. Come hell or high water I plan to catch up over the weekend, even if my wife gets mad at me.

And someone shoot me if I decide to change the basic plot one more time.

I'm stuck at 4419 myself. Yesterday I stared at the screen and nothing came out.

Today I'm just going to write a whole lot of insignificant details and see if I can get my muse to come back.

I'm running an art workshop, doing design work for a friend's website and raising 6 kids all while trying to do this. Fortunately my husband is content to spend his evenings reading every article written on college football, so I don't think he misses me too much. :p

7499 total. Working on an interesting scene right now, where one of my main characters is explaining how a steam powered car works to a wizard family. They're incredulous as to how four horses fit under the hood ;)

Wanna beta read after I get some edits in?

How many of you guys outlined beforehand? I did for about 3 weeks in October and it's made all the difference.

I hit 10k tonight. :)

I did outline for at least part of the story. I ran out of time in fully outlining it, and I might add to it as I have more ideas, and yeah, it makes all the more difference. The last time I did this, I didn't have an outline, and I was too stressed because of it. I have a clear idea of where I'm heading. I have a goal for them and I'm writing out how they get there. In a way, my story is more about the journey of getting there, as they're actually going to travel to the goal location, so it's kind of like a road trip, but in a steampunk world.

No problem! :D

I did a bit of outlining (and only a tiny bit - four chapters, three characters and a little timeline) before the start of November, but as I've been going along I've outlined up to chapter sixteen now, and today I'll probably add to the timeline.

I'm up to 11,488 after yesterday's writing efforts! Congratulations to everyone who has written anything this month so far. :)

7,021 as of last night. That still puts me about a thousand behind on my goal, but I have no worries that I'll be back to where I want to be by tonight.

It still takes everything I have not to start rewriting too. Last night as I was drifting off to sleep, my mind was rewriting the first chapter.

My motto for this month: "MUST NOT LOOK BACK!!"

:p

My muse started composing a story while I was driving into work this morning, so I think I'm in this year, thesis permitting. I jotted down 75 words before I had to work. We'll see what happens. I may or may not finish.

My novel is semi-autobiographical, telling the story of someone who stepped off the airplane with $70 and started law school.

I haven't written anything in the last two days, since I was working yesterday and then we had to go check out my wife's foot at a clinic - waste of money and time since the doc told us what we already knew - and then home and dinner and bed. Tonight we're going to see Lady Antebellum in concert so no writing tonight unless it's late. Hopefully I'll be able to catch up a little this weekend.

Why, oh why did I decide to try women's fiction? Maybe I can make it scifi????? That would make things infinitely easier and I can wangle the story into the scifi universe I have already.

Back to the drawing board.

Next year I'll outline.

Cool idea, VP. And Benny, mine has a bit of women's fiction in it.

Today was tough as nails to write. But I broke the 12k mark and set a personal record.

I got caught up today, hitting 10,021. It's my goal for 2,000 words a day, but I had a no-writing day this week.

Woke up surprisingly early today and found myself incredibly motivated (which never happens in the morning). I decided to stop writing my original story, which just wasn't getting anywhere, and I started from scratch with a new story, and my fingers have been flying. It's gonna be hard work to get caught up, but at least I'm having fun with my story now.
