When will we have more news on the 2017 series?

The script I wrote STAR TREK FRACTURED UNIVERSE is written as a made for TV movie pilot for the new series on CBS All Access. The cast is to be of heavy hitters from previous Treks (movies and television) plus three Hollywood A-listers. The conclusion of the pilot will free the network execs / producers to create from it any format of Trek they choose as the outcome of the pilot is a reboot of all timelines.

My many suggestions include:
  • Star Trek Universe (where the entire universe is explored)
  • Star Trek Chronicles (a co-op of several Trek eras that air in the same time slot on a rotating basis*)
  • Star Trek Convoy (pre-warp 5 merchant ships with Delta class and Intrepid class starships in the new Star Fleet*)
  • Star Trek TOS (with Pauley Perrette playing a female Spock*)
  • Star Trek TNG (new voyages*)
  • Star Trek VOY (new voyages*)
  • Star Trek DS9 (new voyages*)
  • Star Trek ENT (new voyages*)
  • Star Trek Titan (Captain Riker and Deanna Troi with B-4*)
  • Star Trek Defiant (special ops force MACOS comanded by MACO Captain Sulu)
  • Star Trek At War (Romulan War and the battle wagon starships of the era)
I am sure CBS has other scenarios as well.

* the rotation basis was done in the 1970s with the TV series McCloud, MacMillan and Wife, and Colombo where one would air every 3rd week in the same time slot. this way we would have a new Star Trek episode every week in a different Star Trek era with one's particular favorite airing every 3rd or 5th week (depending on how many eras are in the rotation). it cuts down on production costs by cutting down on the number of shows in each era being shot and aired per year. It also gives CBS the ability to pull the plug on less profitable eras without alienating fans.

Sorry, I read the message below. It all seems like fanboy stuff.

I give you another clue: what does this have to do with the topic on hand? This is about when we will have more news on the next series, not some fantasy of you being the creator of a show ...

Yes, I did.
First sign: Will Smith. follow up sign: Jayden Smith.
Many other signs.

First sign, posting ideas to a fan message board. Second sign, using characters from previous shows. Third sign, caring about setting up what universe it sets up for a new show.

At that point I stopped reading. It's nothing but fanwank.

Do you suppose the below quote could mean we will not know much until after the "50th Anniversary Celebration"? "...on the heels...original show's 50th..." - perhaps meaning after September 8th, 2016?

There is no better time to give ‘Star Trek’ fans a new series than on the heels of the original show’s 50th anniversary celebration,” said David Stapf, president of CBS Television Studios

Maybe I'm optimistic, but I think the operative term is "50th anniversary celebration". The official convention is in August, and there are other events during this year that are celebrating Trek's 50th. We know the show itself won't premiere until 2017, and I think that's all Mr. Stapf is referring to, not any information preceding that.

He's talking about the air date there, not the info and promotion which will start well before that.

STNG had much the same schedule as the announcement of ST 2017. The show was announced in mid-Oct 1986, and STNG's cast was announced in May of 1987. We might see that in April-June. a ship or artwork might be seen before that, and we might see a name in the next month or two.

What does any of that fan fic have to do with the series that's actually upcoming from CBS All Access?

Oh, right - nothing.

Well, he's new, and apparently doesn't realize that:

a. There's a fan fiction board here that he should have posted that in, and

b. If for some reason he doesn't actually believe that his "script" is nothing more than fan fic, then he needs to understand that CBS had already made their decision about a new series, it is being helmed by someone other than him, and pestering Shatner's agent when he has zero writing credits is like going to the Vatican and asking them if I can be the next pope even though my religious credits are having gone to Sunday School and waiting for that damn Xmas mass to end so I can get home and open my presents.

Forgetting about that he's trying to supply work for the entire Smith family.
