The sad thing is Ryan Church is a great concept artist (just look at his contributions to Star Wars). But with that ship it's plain as day that he must've had outside interference (director, producers, cleaning lady, ...) throughout the project. Strangely with the Kelvin it's not remotely as bad. Just look at stuff like 50's car parts of steel struts right in the flight path of arriving shuttles.
