Um, Buffy became bad? I admit season 4 was kind of meh but I LOVED 5-7! Now if you're saying that the show went downhill because of Dawn, then I agree. They should have killed her once her storyline was wrapped.
The Vampire Diaries used to be awesome! During the first 3 seasons I was absolutely obsessed. Then it's quality decreased and I finally gave up in the beginning of season 6. I still don't know what went wrong.

I didn't even realise it was a six year old thread. I access almost everything via 'New Posts', so it didn't occur to me. I'm not sure how I ended up in such an old thread and wouldn't have ressurected it had I realised.

The nuBSG episode where Helo interfered with the genocide plans was one of the best, IMO. The series would have been valueless tripe had it gone the other way.
BTVS was one which hit a bit of a boring patch in the fourth year but was excellent and remained true to its premise from beginning to end.

I don't think NuBSG went bad so much as it went 'Okay' after the New Caprica arc.
Babylon 5 in season 5 though has to be the winner of this thread for me. Like, wrap up all your storylines, then do another season focusing almost entirely on the less interesting psi corps stuff.
And of course Stargate, as soon as the Ori showed up and RDA left.

well you can blame the tv network for that one. JMS didn't know if he was going to get a S5 so he had two options a) wrap things up in case there was no 5th season or b) continue as planned and hope for the best.
He chose the safe route.
Oh and the departure of Claudia Christian at the end of S4 didn't help things.
I did the same thing though I never look at thread dates.
