When Do You Want To See Burnham Become The STD Captain?

Painfully obvious that Lorca will be dead or imprisoned soon. They're setting him up as an irredeemable war monger, in an attempt to elevate Burnham as the protagonist. Plus, I doubt these producers want another Straight White Male lead, unless he's a villain who gets overpowered by the 'heroes.'

No doubt Burnham will be placed in a position where she will have to mutiny again and take charge.

The ship will need a new Captain, and episode 5 proved that it probably won't be Saru, he's too green to command, and didn't have the training that Burnham The Great did.

She would be the youngest Captain lead in the prime franchise (only 30 according to her screen bio) if they push this. Younger than Prime Captain Kirk.

Do you want Burnham as the Captain on STD next season? I'm skeptical Sonequa has the presence to pull it off without coming off as unlikeable (see her giving orders scenes in the premiere), but it seems the only direction to go if this show wants to continue to be centred around her character.

It's a forgone conclusion that Burnham will be captain of the Discovery. And I agree with the OP that it'll likely happen at the end of the season. At the very least, the beginning of the next one.

I've also predicted that the season ends with Burnham going against Lorca. But this time she has a legit reason to and Saru will have to side with her. Starfleet reinstates her and gives her command of Discovery. Saru becomes her first officer/science officer.

She needs to pull off something really heroic, like saving the Earth from some maniac in a giant ship and rescuing Lorca at the same time. Then she will be awarded captaincy for "inspirational valor and supreme dedication to her comrades," and ordered to report to Admiral Lorca, USS Discovery, as his relief.

It should be like House of Cards, when she finally takes control as Captain she should go into her ready room and bang her ring on the table twice. Cut to black.

Or like ending the war Starfleet has saddle on her for starting?

Whether or not we want to pin the war on Michael ( I don't think that makes much sense ) she did assault her captain and mutiny and blow a mission obtaining a HVT.

So, it would in my mind make zero sense that she be allowed to captain a vessel ever, ever again.

Yeah I like Saru and I'd love to see him as captain regularly, and would love to see Burnham report to Saru,

Even sweeter if you read "Desperate Hours" by David Mack............I think Saru has earned a shot at the chair.

I don't read fiction, That may make me sound like a knucklehead but, I read a lot. I just don't have the imagination to truly enjoy fiction. That may sound kind of stupid but it's the only way I know how to say it.

I've read many fiction books of many types, and just came to the conclusion that I just suck at the "gaining enjoyment" part of reading.

However I've thought about giving it a try with a trek novel. I'll consider this one.

I have not read a novel in a while.........I only picked this up because of word on mouth. I read it in one sitting in about 6 hours......I really couldn't put it down when I started it.

Burnham in the captains chair just dont seem right... She is a strong character and i like her, but she should be concentrated around a science officer position.

Even if she somehow becomes an officer again, she probably won't ever be offered her own command. Just like Worf after "Change of Heart."

Yes, Michael Burnham is the Worf of Star Trek: Discovery. :vulcan:

There is no realistic way for Burnham to make captain.

That said given the "quality" writing so far I fully expect them to just ignore that and make her captain anyways.
