Excluding flying over the Atlantic Ocean from Montreal or Toronto to Amsterdam, the first time I saw the ocean (well, the Severn Estuary, but close enough to the Atlantic) was when I was 23 and I visited my now-husband in Weston-super-Mare for the first time.
May I add another question:
When did you first smell the Sea?
What I mean is that whenever I return home from the deep of Germany I notice the milder air up here, surrounded by the sea! (and that I think it relates to the smell of the air).
I was born in May, so I probably smelled the ocean shortly after I was born, the first day it was warm enough to open the windows.May I add another question:

I'The sea has a smell? But perhaps that's because I've lived very close to the sea for a decades that I don't notice it.
We have an expression around here: "Smells like low tide." It's not a compliment.Different seas smell stronger. The Atlantic on the US east coast is very pungent. You can barely smell the Pacific in CA or where I live in comparison.
