When I was in high school I had a cheap calculator that had come with a carton of cigarettes (every body in my family smokes but me) and I discovered that the back slid up and down very easily. With a friends help I made decals and turned it into a micro tri corder.
Later he and I worked up a schematic and technical specs for The Spine. The idea was why would people in the 24th century do their leisure reading on PADD's, when with micro holography and micro force field generators they could simulate real books. The spine when it's off is about the width of a ruler and about that long. It accepts voice commands, and has micro emitters. When activated it can simulate any book available in the Federation library.
In current times examples of my incurability include a tendency to issue voice commands to my non voice operated computer.
Also to refer to my journals as my personal log.
Also when confronted with some nifty new piece of tech like motion activated faucets I have been known to gleefully proclaim, "It's like livin' in Star Trek!"
