My two older brothers started watching during Star Trek's original run on NBC in the late 60's, they got me into it watching reruns in the early 70's I was about 4 or 5 years old... we also loved Doctor Who on PBS, Colin Baker was my doctor. Along with Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (which was basically Trek underwater) and Space:1999--- from the eyes of a 5 year old, Doctor Who was scary but Space:1999 scared the shit outta me!! :wtf:

Watched a few episodes of TNG as a child, but the first one I remember seeing was 'Yesterday's Enterprise'. After watching most of TNG season 5, my dad bought all the DS9 DVDs, and then I got hooked.

Reading everyones responses is so interesting! I love how so many of you had parents that got you into Star Trek! And i am surprised at how many of you started with something other than TOS!

I was ten when TOS came on television, and i loved it then. I was hooked and would write fan letters to the cast (including a marriage proposal to Shatner....at ten, mind you!)

When TNG came on i refused to watch it. I don't remember if i thought they were redoing TOS with new actors, or if i knew it was a different and later crew. I just refused to watch it!

Then, one day, i was sick with the flu. As i lay in bed, feverish and with not enough strength to even change the channel, TNG came on. It was the two part episode "Times Arrow". As much as i hated the Samuel Clemens character, i fell in love with the show. Who knew?

From then on i was hooked, watched the rest of the run and caught the first few seasons in reruns.

Watched DS9, Voyager and some of Enterprise.....but for me, nothing is as consistantly good as TOS and TNG (well, except for season 1 of tng).

I grew up with Trek, my mother was a fan and I learned of TOS through the animated show. I was 6 when it was on Saturdays and when mmy mom saw I loved it she showed me TOS when it began showing in the afternoon on WPIX in New York, well 4 pm after school.

Of course that was waaay back in the seventies. Born in 1967 so I am one of the old dogs :)

In truest Starfleet tradition, welcome to the world of Fandom - and if I may add, it is an honor to have you aboard. In any case, compared to alot of the tried and true trekkers - some of whom were watching Star Trek long before I was born - I am more or less a newbie myself.

I got into Star Trek through Deep Space Nine, so it must have been around 1993 (I was 10 years old). I guess I saw some episodes of The Next Generation before that, but Deep Space Nine is what really made me a fan. It was only a few years later that I also came to appreciate The Original Series. Which is funny, because now it ties with Deep Space Nine as my favorite Trek series ...

I became a fan after seeing XI on opening night. One would think that since my father was a fan of TOS I would have been introduced sooner. I did manage to watch all of TOS on CBS.com not long after I saw the new movie and have since bought the DVDs.

I'm currently watching TNG and Enterprise right now and I plan to eventually get around to DS9 and Voyager.

So yup, I'm a newbie!

I think the first Trek I saw was the films with the original cast, but I first really got into Trek by watching Season 7 of TNG during its original run. Then I watched quite a lot of DS9 and Voyager as well as reruns of the original show. Eventually I stopped watching Trek for some reason or another (probably because of other interests). Then, a few years ago I caught some reruns of TOS and TNG on TV and that revived my interest in Star Trek. Eventually I decided that I wanted to watch all of DS9 in order, so I started buying the DVDs and also watching quite a lot of other Trek on TV.

Tough to pin it down exactly. 6 or 7 years old. Certainly well before 1986 when the family moved out of our first home. There, I recall watching TOS once a week in the back bedroom, while Dad caught the 6pm BBC1 News on the other side. The City on the Edge of Forever is among my strongest memories. He ran a videoshop and probably introduced me to Kirk & Spock through Star Trek I, II & III and rental tapes containing The Empath/Miri and Space Seed/Changeling. The Voyage Home would've been out, but I didn't begin going to the cinema until the 80's were all but over... with Batman, Ghostbusters II & Indy III among my first films. For some reason I missed out on Star Trek V. I can't imagine why... just too much choice that summer, I expect.

My earliest recollection watching Trek was in the 70s as I grew up. I'm not really a super-serious hardcore Trek-nut, but I do immensely enjoy it. I watched TMP four times in the theater, TWOK once (only because I moved to another country around the time it came out), TSFP a couple of times, TVH a couple of times, TFF twice (don't ask me why), and the rest of them only once (although I saw Nemesis twice).

I made an exception with XI and saw it ten times, mostly in IMAX. That big-budget look made a difference for me and there's nothing better than seeing the ship on a huge screen to experience that sense of scale.

I pretty much missed out on DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise, but TOS and TNG I still keep playing on the side often. It's like comfort food in the background.

An ABC airing of Star Trek III: The Search for Spock back in either 1986 or 1987 was the first Trek of any kind that I saw and I was immediately hooked. I then proceeded to watch every episode of TOS I could find while simultaneously watching TNG during its initial run. I then watched the first runs of DS9, Voyager and Enterprise.

I own copies of all ten of the films, VHS and DVD, as well as all three seasons of TOS and seasons 2-5 of TNG. Completing TNG and getting all four seasons of Ent are next on the list.

I will also admit to owning two Starfleet uniforms, the first is a TOS style gold and the second is a movie 2-6 style.

I would stop what I was doing, and sit quitely and watch the entire episode, without moving.
That's so funny.
Me too. But in first-run.

At 11 months old? To the exclusion of everything else? I was told this is what I did. Seemed to be a big deal to my mom who said she never saw somebody so young exhibit that kind of attention span before.

I was pretty young. I just remember that the bearded guy was arguing that the yellow guy wasn't really a person, and then turned him off. That was fairly mind-boggling at my age, and I think I've been a Trekkie ever since.

'The Measure of a Man' is still one of my favourite episodes ever, also.

Started when i was 11 would watch TNG on video 2 episodes on a tape, would hire them for a night from my local video rental store, but also watch TOS reruns on TV every thursday with my gran . Hooked from then on !!!:techman::)
