When did you become a fan?

How long have you identified yourself as a fan?

Sure this is different for different people, but I'll let that be a discussion for another time. :bolian:

I saw TOS in reruns and remember seeing Star Trek IV at theatres but probably didn't become a fan until TNG and BoBW. That really sealed it for me. So 1990.

Only being 18, I didn't recognize myself as a fan until the early '90s, but according to my parents, their number one mistake was letting me watch TNG when I was a baby.

Must have been around 1993 when DS9 started. Though I had seen some TNG episodes, it was DS9 that really made me a fan. Now I'm really one of those who love all the series (with VOY being my least favorite series). Man, is that really that long ago ... ?

86-90, possibly 91-95. It depends if I was a fan when I was two and one or just happened to be staring at the TV because it was playing.

1991-1995. Took a couple of years of irregular viewing but I was sitting down in front of the TV for the first episode of Voyager.

1981-1985 - I was into watching reruns of TOS with my dad and TAS by myself. By the time TNG came on the scene, I was really into it. In 1991, I saw my first movie ST:VI by myself, but the fandom started way prior to 1991.

I've been a fan ever since I can remember. My earliest childhood memories are of watching the original and playing with my Mego Trek figures. My mother says that it started when I was nearly two years old, so I guess it would've been around 1978 or 79.

I'm not entirely sure. I started watched TOS reruns sometime in the mid eighties. I was like 10 years old or something so I don't really remember exactly when it was. But I know I started watching TNG(my favorite!) in 1987 when it premiered and watched all the Trek series since then.

About the mid to late 80s, when Star Trek reruns were being shown on UK television, the third Star Trek film was shown on BBC television and was officially the Coolest Thing Ever™, and only a select few in the UK had heard of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Those were the days...

I was born in '87, which practically meant that I grew up with TNG. I'd say that I started identifying myself as a fan somewhere during the '91-'95 range. I was old enough to know that I liked this show, Star Trek, and since then, the love affair has only increased.

TMP in 1979, at age 21, having had an awareness for TOS as a kid and catching repeat episodes of TAS on breakfast TV as a teen.

... 1973, I was 6. We used to play Star Trek on an old overturned fishing boat.

Couldn't put an exact date on it. I loved Q-Squared, and had never seen Q in an episode and nor was I aware TNG had finished. First Contact is what really made me a big fan, so probably about late 1996.
