When can we expect to know the cast of this new series?

Are there any current shows or past Trek series we can go on to get a rough estimate?

I'm dying to know who are new captain is, but I'm afraid we have a lot longer to wait than I actually hope.

I'm guessing the casting will happen by February and Production would begin in April 2016.

when would production start in 2016 on new Trek series? I also bring up the start of marketing and promotion. I would guess that the story ideas for scripts are being decided now depending on how many episodes that are slated for production.

When they've been cast.

They've got 14 months to go from the announcement (which is a safe bet to assume was shortly after deals were signed) to launch.

If thats the case (may not be - it's a massive leap) they'll likely still be working on the details.

I would assume by mid-year, summer, we'll see something regarding cast and getting deep into pre-production or starting production.

Casting by the spring, I'd guess. There might also be one or two high-profile cast announcements earlier than that.
