What's your opinion of Tina Fey?

30 Rock is a show that I'd watch if I watched more TV. I'm slowly making my way through the first season, but at this rate I'll be done in 2012.

30 Rock, like a lot of Tina Fey's stuff, is cute, clever, and amusing but not very funny. Like I rarely find myself outright laughing.

I don't know how someone could watch 30 Rock and not outright laugh at Alec Baldwin. Hys-terical. To each their own...

Interesting, because it was actually well into season 3 before I found an episode that didn't have me laughing out loud every 5 minutes.

I've said it many times before, and I'll say it again. 30 Rock has spoiled Alec Baldwin for me. I see any movie where he has to play a drama role, and it just isn't the same. I wish he had done comedy a whole lot more.

If that doesn't make you laugh, I feel sorry for you.

^This clip truly does showcase Baldwin's immense comedic talent. Not to mention the show's great writing. I've never seen a show where the writing is so tightly-packed with humor. In fact, I have to watch 30 Rock episodes several times to catch every line, and every nuance of every line.

While I'm not a big fan of 30 Rock itself, Alec Baldwin is funny and keeps the show watchable. All the stuff with Liz Lemon, whoever Jane Krakowski plays, Tracy Morgan, that page and the staff just doesn't do much for me. It all seems like it should be much more funny than it actually is. It just seems to miss that next level of going from conceptually amusing to laugh-out-loud.

Of course, I've never seen any appeal whatsoever to Scrubs either so maybe some shows just come down to personal taste.

I guess you feel sorry for me because the only thing funny in that clip was the counselor lady and maybe Tracy Morgan.

30 Rock, The Office and Family Guy. The humor of those shows completely escapes me. And I laugh at just about anything. Low brow, high brow, it doesn't matter.

The same with Tina Fey. Her Sarah Palin did nothing for me. Perhaps because I find watching Sarah Palin herself talking immensely more amusing.

I don't want to piss on anyone's appreciation here. I'm just curious about why I missed the boat on liking these shows.

I think it's just like British comedies. You either like and get British humor or you don't.

I have friends who, like me, love A Fish Called Wanda, Keeping Up Appearances, Have You Been Served? and others British comedies, while others would rather watch their grass grow than AFCW. Same thing with Musicals, some just can't get past the breaking into song since, in real life, people don't just start singing to each other to express love or other emotions, or to just get from one place to another.

^Yes, there are individual differences in taste that we need to respect. But usually a general consensus emerges about what's funny and what isn't. The majority of people -- but not everyone -- thinks that Seinfeld is funny. I like 30 Rock but I don't think there's quite the consensus as there is with Seinfeld.

Just out of curiosity, how far into these shows did you start watching them? They're all in a pretty sad state right now, but "The Office" and "Family Guy" each had at least three excellent seasons (4 and 5 of "The Office" has some good moments too) before they took a serious dive in quality.

I think British comedy is friggin awesome. Monty Python, Are You Being Served, Fawlty Towers, Chef, Coupling.. quality.

To be fair, I haven't invested a lot of time in Family Guy, Office, 30 Rock etc. But other shows I like didn't take more than one episode to convince me.

But like I said, if others like it that's fine with me. I'm not offended because someone things 30 Rock is the greatest show ever. Good for them! What really bugs me is trying to understand why I'm not laughing. Apart from crap like Urkel, I like almost every comedy show there has ever been. I should rent a whole season and plow through it.

She's pretty funny. Never heard of her until she did her Palin and they showed it on the news over here. Then it was probably just over a year until I saw her again on 30 Rock, which I really enjoy. So I have a positive opinion of Tina Fey from the limited stuff I've seen her in.
