What's your mutation?

I can see in the dark.

Interesting. I can't see in the dark, or the light. I always feel like an idiot going out on a cloudy day in my giant sunglasses -- I imagine people look at me and think I just wear them in the rain or indoors to be stylish, when the truth is that I just can't handle the light.

I have a big head. I have a very hard time finding headwear that fits me. I had to get my Yankee and Met caps directly from New Era because that's the only way I could get them in my size (~ 8 1/2 ).

So I guess my other mutation could be my ridiculous memory. And I do mean ridiculous. I can remember a string of 40 digits no problem, but not a day goes by that doesn't see turning back halfway down the block to get the keys I forgot, the book I forgot, the metro card I forgot, etc. I actually walked out last week without shoes. As I opened the apartment door to get them, my roommate, who watched me leave, just smiled and said, "I just wanted to see if you'd notice."

I have a very similar memory, actually. I'm fantastic at remembering facts and details, but equally terrible at remembering to do things or take things with me. To the point where when I'm out, I routinely give my pockets a quick check to make sure my wallet, phone, and keys are all still with me.

^That sounds exactly like me. I compulsively check my purse for things I've forgotten, especially when I'm on my way to the airport. In fact, I'm so bad on my way to the airport that I make a checklist, make sure everything is in my purse, and still inventory my purse at least 3 or 4 times on my way.

I can't think of any. In fact, I've inherited too many things from both parents, though not all of them are good. :borg:

I have a random hair follicle on my nose (but not usually a hair, since I pluck it every time it dares come out). Pretty sure it serves no purpose except to remind me I'm just a few more follicles away from being a werewolf.

I can't think of a thing. I must be a Pure Strain Human.

(Free cake for the first person who can identify that RPG reference)

Hmmm, Gammaworld? Traveller?

Right the first time. Gamma World. :techman:

I'm sensitive to electrical fields to the point to where if I wear a metal watch my wrist will start to feel like I have arthritis, other than that I'm really good at catching details that are hard to notice (those 3 frames in the rescuers with the topless woman for example)

I have no wisdom teeth. No, they weren't removed - they never existed in my head.

I also have an eerily accurate time sense. I have the ability to tell the approximate time without looking at a clock or watch. I was in a meeting a couple of years ago which had started at 1pm, in a room with no clocks or windows to see outside, and someone said, "Does anyone know what time it is?" I said, "It's about 4:25." Someone looked at their watch and said, "4:23, actually."

. . . (I'm also sensitive to sounds to the extent that they're recorded in my brain perfectly and can "play back". I record songs that way and play them back on long journeys to entertain myself. Like an internal iPod).
I’ve been able to do that since I was a child. Once I’ve heard a musical selection a few times, it’s engraved on my brain and I can play it back perfectly in my head -- especially if I’m in an environment with a neutral droning background noise like highway traffic or machinery.

The downside is that I’m constantly plagued with earworms. But at least most of the songs that get stuck in my head are pretty ones.

I have a small third nipple.

Interesting thread! Let's see ...

I'm what some people describe as double jointed although really it just means I'm flexible in weird ways. I can bend my fingers in odd ways, so that my thumb can be bent back to touch my wrist or bent in the shape of a ring angle behind my hand. My elbows allow my arms to hyperextend and I sometimes find people looking at me like I should be in pain when really I'm comfortable being contorted.

I can sleep with my eyes open. I carry the trait for a blood disorder.

I don't know what I'll pass on. My dad and sister share the flexibility trait and none of us get hangovers. I'll probably pass on the blood thing if I have kids which is okay as long as they don't end up with someone else with the same trait.

I also have an accessory nipple, which doesn't seem to be that uncommon (5% of males and 2% of females according to Wikipedia).

other than a permanent cold, i never seem to get badly ill. not since i was a kid, anyway.

it's like some kinda odd immune system thing...

Yes, I get that particular downside too. :) I'm glad to hear the whole thing is not as rare as I was led to believe.
