What's your middle name?

Eric. It's okay...but it doesn't flow with my first name. Sean Eric just doesn't sound right to me. On top of that...my initials are SEA...

I knew someone with the initials BMW once, and we all called him that. We thought it was funny, but then again we were in fifth grade at the time, so...

I'm not fond of either my first or middle names. I wish my middle name was Fox. Then I could go by that.

my middle name is Nicholas. i kinda like it, but i hated all the inevitable knicker-less jokes as a kid.

the purpose of a middle name is to give your mother that li'l bit extra to shout when you're in deep poo-doo. y'know:

JOHN MICHAEL SMITH! YOU COME HERE RIGHT THIS INSTANT!

Richard. I'm cool with it.

My name's kind of funny, actually. My first and middle names are kind of strong, English/Germanic names, and my last name is a soft French name. Kind of like a friend of mine, whose first and middles names are Irish but his last name is German.
Why do we even have middle names anyway? What purpose do they serve?
It's just a way people devised to differentiate themselves as populations grew. It's like if there were two guys in a village named John, and their fathers were named John, so they'd both be John Johnson. So to avoid confusion their parents gave both of them a second name. So now you have John James Johnson and John Thomas Johnson, making things like population censuses much easier to keep track of.

Okay, so that's a super-simplified way of putting it. :p But hopefully you get the idea.

I'm confident no one on this board will have the same middle name as me:

Liumani

I never use it but it is useful in that it differentiates between me and my dad since outher first names ahve the same initial, so he could tell most of the time when mail was addressed to me and not him for things like bank statements, etc.

My middle name is Min. In Korean and China for some odd reason it's more feminine than masculine. In other parts it's Masculine.

I'm named after a dictator!

My family has an unusual tradition, the first born male of each generation was supposed to have the first and middle name of Ladson Isaac after a loyal slave that saved my direct ancestor back in the 1830s.. so as my grandfather and great grandfather were alive when I was born, I was also supposed to have the name of Ladson Isaac with a "The Fourth" after my name...as my dad already went with Ike, I would have been known as Laddie or Lad...:(

My mother put her foot down, and the compromise was that Ladson became my middle name.:techman:

My middle name is quite boring, it was chosen because its my uncles name, My first name was chosen because it was my dads name. My mum is not very creative.

G... John W...

Oh! I can participate in threads like this now. At birth, I didn't have a middle name. However when I got married and took my husband's last name, I made my maiden name my middle name.

That sounds a lot more confusing than it really is.

I don't want to post it here for security reasons, but basically my middle name is an Indian surname and I doubt anyone else shares it.

As for me, i dont have a middle name; my parents didnt bother giving me one.. Thats just fine with me. Alex works just perfectly for me.

Matthew.

I have nothing against it, but I almost never use it, except for official ID purposes.
