what's your local weather?

still a cold drizzle, with clouds/fof and temperatures slightly above freezing point. One of those grey days where you wish you could stay in bed *sigh*

I looked outside, but with all the drifting I can't tell how much we actually got. I mean, I could check the news... nah. It doesn't look like much, though. 9F with a windchill down to -10F, supposed to top out at 18 (not counting the windchill). Maybe the snow will all blow off my car before I have to go to work?

0 and wind chill of -30 at midday.

The weather forecast is predicting tonight's temps in degrees Rankine.

34 F and partly sunny. Most of the snow from the other day has already melted off.

First it was cold front, then it was arctic chill, then it was jet stream, now it's polar vortex. Gotta love those buzz words.

So much whining on the news channels this week. Imagine if it was that plus the infamous cold weather Super Bowl tonight and the internet would explode.

Not really buzz words. They're types of wind patterns.

The polar vortices are giant storms in the upper atmosphere above the poles. They're always there. We just don't hear about them because they normally don't affect us like they have this year.

I mean, sure, "polar vortex" is being used as a buzz word this year, but it's not like it was just something the media invented.

Up to 47 F right now and it feels kind of warm compared to most of the past few weeks. It won't last and we'll be back to freezing or below, but at least I don't need a heavy jacket to do anything today.

74 F here today, shorts at the dog park...

Unfortunately the Sierra snowpack has been measured at 13 percent of normal so CA is in for some serious trouble this year if we don't get some snow up there soon.

Aaaaand the blizzard is back.

It ended up getting up to 34C today (93F), but it has now dropped down to 25C. The prediction is for around 36C (97F) tomorrow.

41 F and mostly cloudy. The temps have dropped almost ten degrees since noon as the new cold front/Polar Vortex Part Deux closes in to put us back into frigid teeth-chattering territory for a couple of days. It's also kind of gusty and windy today.
