what's your local weather?

Ice pellets are clicking outside of my bedroom window. Today is supposed to be ice, and tomorrow changing to snow. We could get up to an inch of ice, which will pull tree branches down and make the power lines toast. Since I live out in the countryside, there's a LOT of trees between me and the nice lineman who fixes our power back. :wah:

It's very, very winter here in North Texas. Seriously, if I was into this kind of cold I'd live in Canada or something:

Here in South Texas, it is sleeting and a bit breezy. We rarely have freezing temps but right now, it's 27 degrees F and might get down to 17 by this time tomorrow. They are forecasting snow. The last time we had snow was about 15 years ago and it lasted just a couple of hours.

I'm glad hubby and I are both working from home; there's no need to drive anywhere.

@auntiehill The last time it snowed any significant amount* up here where I'm at was in Dec 2012. Was about half a day of heavy snowing. This is coming down lighter but it's the longest snow event I can recall happening at any location that I have lived at in Texas. It started about 6ish Sunday morning (Feb 14) and, except for a small break in that afternoon, is still snowing a 4ish on Monday (Feb 15.)

It's blowing snow outside! We won't be able to drive anywhere today. We are thinking about going out for a walk with our cameras, leaving Riley at home.

It's snowing and very, very cold (-2F atm). We might make it to 5 today. I am so not a fan. Neither is my dog. I got some serious stink-eye from him when he went out to do his business this morning.

Here's my photos from this morning. It was coldest it has been in Fort Bend County in over 100 years! We had about 1.5 to 2 inches of snow. That may not seem like much, but in a place that has no snow plows and where many homes don't have fireplaces, it's been the freakin' snowpocalypse. It was cool to walk out this morning and feel the snow crunching under my rain boots. The snow is starting to melt a little but then it's refreezing; it's still hanging around. It has gone up to 22 F now but will be back around 17 F again tomorrow morning.

Warmer than Dallas, Texas! ;)

But we're supposed to get 15 - 25 cm of snow overnight, so I guess the joke is ultimately on us! ;)

Our weather is so boring.
It actually has snowed here 2 or 3 times in the 20+ years we've been in Az. I think the last time was well over a decade ago.
This time the cold snap is actually hitting us too, usually the colder the eastern part of the country is the warmer we are, but this time it's actually cooled down here.

it SUCKS!!!!! We had snow/ sleet on the ground. Tomorrow it's going to be 8 degrees, and Wed-Thursday we have another big dump of ice coming our way. We might not dig out until the weekend.

We’ve been getting ice instead of snow here for the last three hours. Going to be a mess.

We got about five inches Monday and will probably get another 4-6 inches overnight. Thankfully, we are no longer in the single digits for our high temperatures.

Thunderstorm overnight and then warmed up to 66 degrees. This was a fluke and tomorrow it is back to the 40s.

We got 4-5 inches of snow last night. We were juuuust too far north to get the ice/sleet/hail that knocked out power to the counties south of us. Thank GOD we were lucky twice this week. Now we just have to wait for the weekend when we climb into the 40s for this stuff to melt. Next week we get into teh 60s.

@auntiehill A bit belated response* but nice pics. That is what we typically see in a snow event up here (like the one we had in January.) This time it is looking like we may still have remnants of the snowfall from last Sunday still on the ground this Sunday. This time I had a garden spade out shoveling the drifts off my porch. Once in a lifetime event for me.

*(rolling blackouts for two-three days has had the electronics mostly off.)

Ice on the pavements and damn cold. It's not walking weather nor really travel weather of any other kind unless you have no choice whatsoever.

Sorry.
I grew up in northeastern Indiana. My first Boy Scout Klondike Derby had a wind chill factor of -40 degrees. When I was a senior in high school, we had a blizzard that lasted for a couple of days that left 10' snow drifts at both ends of our street. About 3 days after the blizzard ended, front end loaders were needed to clear the streets. I was going into neighbors' attics to shovel out snow that had blown in from the roof vents.
