32°F and sunny. Fantastic!
I know that you and I have vastly different outlooks on ideal temperatures, so I thought you might get a kick out of this.
So I had to run out late last night to pick up some things. It was -2C with a wind chill of -6. I'm in a sweater, coat, gloves, and winter boots.
Walking through the parking lot to the store, and some guy walks by... wearing shorts. He did not look visibly uncomfortable or anything.
It's interesting how differently people's bodies can react to the same external stimulus.![]()
My brother was a stock person at Target for many years and he wore shorts year-round, no matter how cold it was. I couldn't understand it at all until the last couple of years when my own perception of temperature changed. It wasn't long ago that I'd be standing on my back deck wearing a full-on parka and gloves and a Russian fur hat at (+)50°F with no wind.
I'm not sure what had happened, but lately, low- to mid-70s can get unbearable to be on sunny days in Summer.
I relish most of the weather in Winter now. I could see myself moving to a more Northern climate where even Summers aren't as warm (most people would say temperate) as it is here. I don't love -40°F days, but I'm generally fairly comfy down to about -20° with the right clothing and layers. Layers are very, very important as I may feel a little shock of cold in mid-Winter, but I'll soon acclimate and need to take a layer or two off. Then again, there are other times that I go out unprepared in as few layers as I think I need and end up pretty chilly. My fingers freeze first and that can be painful, but it's mostly down to my poor circulation.
