I'm in favor of the rain I'm getting.

A short, intense rainstorm that goes overnight, at 55 degrees, and is over well before I need to go out in the morning.

This is probably going to clean all the snow off all the sidewalks and bike paths, and that will be it until next winter! Plus rain is awesome when you're trying to get to bed.

I will say that with the rain we've been having and the mild temps, recorded ground-snow-level drops in a neighboring city were around 12-inches over the last 72 hours. I certainly see that in my front yard and driveway!

the forecast and nature differ slightly today:
forecast: 11°C and only very rarely a slight drizzle, otherwise sunny.
nature: 5°C and the rain is coming down in sheets.

Or, to quote an old joke:
Question to Radio Eriwan: Is the weather forecast always right?
Answer: basically yes. Only the date tends to be wrong.

Not rainy but the sky is filled with clouds. We can't see the sun but we can guess where it is from the light.

    Sunny and still cold.

It’s supposed to get better over the next week, with a high of 11C forecast for next Sunday. I hope they’re right. :)

I know that you and I have vastly different outlooks on ideal temperatures, so I thought you might get a kick out of this. :)

So I had to run out late last night to pick up some things. It was -2C with a wind chill of -6. I'm in a sweater, coat, gloves, and winter boots.

Walking through the parking lot to the store, and some guy walks by... wearing shorts. He did not look visibly uncomfortable or anything.

It's interesting how differently people's bodies can react to the same external stimulus. :)

My brother was a stock person at Target for many years and he wore shorts year-round, no matter how cold it was. I couldn't understand it at all until the last couple of years when my own perception of temperature changed. It wasn't long ago that I'd be standing on my back deck wearing a full-on parka and gloves and a Russian fur hat at (+)50°F with no wind.

I'm not sure what had happened, but lately, low- to mid-70s can get unbearable to be on sunny days in Summer.

I relish most of the weather in Winter now. I could see myself moving to a more Northern climate where even Summers aren't as warm (most people would say temperate) as it is here. I don't love -40°F days, but I'm generally fairly comfy down to about -20° with the right clothing and layers. Layers are very, very important as I may feel a little shock of cold in mid-Winter, but I'll soon acclimate and need to take a layer or two off. Then again, there are other times that I go out unprepared in as few layers as I think I need and end up pretty chilly. My fingers freeze first and that can be painful, but it's mostly down to my poor circulation.

That's interesting that your own perception changed to be more cold-tolerant and less heat-tolerant. I've never been really cold-tolerant, but as I get older, I seem to be getting less and less so. I'm probably closer to where you were before your change... people sometimes make fun of me because I'll wear gloves and such once the temperature drops below +10C.

I'd love to move somewhere warmer, but I don't want to leave Canada, and I'm already about as far south as I can get and still stay in the country! I keep waiting for this Turks and Caicos thing to happen, but they've been talking about it off and on for decades now, and we're not any closer, so it probably won't happen in my lifetime!

I've been having problems with my fingers and toes in winter too for the last few years now. I was worried it was some kind of circulation problem too. So I went to the doctor, and he did some things with his stethoscope, then said I didn't have any circulation issues. Soooo.... OK, then?

I saw the temp as high as 47°F today. Again, not much of a breeze.

I thought I had a surefire excuse to move to Canada but then I remembered we have Alaska and I said to myself, "Damn..." much the same way Saavik did in TWOK.

Being diabetic, circulation is an issue for me, as well as neuropathy. It runs in my family. I lost all heat and cold sensation in my feet about ten years ago. Touch sensation stayed for longer, but that's been rapidly disappearing, as well. I began to notice that when during every appointment with my endo he would do the poke test on my toes and then after one appointment he just didn't do it ever again.

But it's really, really weird in that I can be perfectly comfortable outside in the 40s F but I can go inside where my housemate likes to keep the temp around 74°F which is far too hot for me most of the time, but every once in a while I'll just start shivering in my sweatshirt and I'll need to lay on my couch with a comforter. Other times I'll need to take my shirt off and go bare-chested.

This is crazy. Saturday: 5°C and deluge. Sunday: 22°C and scorching sun. Monday: 3°C and drizzle.
I'd really appreciate if the weather would finally make up its mind!
