what's your local weather?

indeed :) The refugees can do with a bit of positive publicity as they get (undeservedly) blamed for every crime that happens.

Weather today: hot (35°C) and unbearably humid. I went for a walk at 4:30 am and it was just bearable. The instant the sun rose, it got searing hot.
I have nothing against any weather, but couldn't there please be some sort of gradual transition rather than these abrupt changes?

I just don't know how you cope with this sort of heat and humidity. I have a friend who experiences these temperatures day after day after day. Everything stays hot - the walls, the bricks, the floor. Do you have a cooler day every so often to save your sanity? My doctor advised me that it takes ten days to aclimatise to a new setting. In Tasmania we get days like you are speaking of occasionally, but not enough to adjust to it. Because I travel between my island and the mainland, in summer I just can't cope with the differences. During winter both states are pretty similar - cold!

I wasn't aware that Tasmania is that cool. Sounds like a rather nice place to live =)
Moist heat is something terrible. Dry heat is easier to stand. Over here, only few buildings have air condition (mostly just airports and hospitals). I deal with the heat by airing during the night when it gets at least a few degrees cooler and then in the morning shutting all blinds. It also helps to hang up wet bedlinnen in front of the windows. If there's a slight breeze, the evaporation will cool the room down a degree or two. In the worst case I sleep outdoors.

At the moment we are back to nicely cool (20°C) and rainy with a pleasant breeze. Following the terrible moist heat on Friday and Saturday, there has been a gigantic thunderstorm on Saturday night, complete with floods and mudslides. This time in the mountains at the other end of my district. Well, at least Mother Nature spreads her surprises evenly. Catastrophy alert has already been canceled and the damage is estimated to be around 0.1 billion Euros. Nobody is missing and as far as we can tell atm neither humans nor animals got injured. We're definitely getting the hang of this flood thing :D (And our gallows humour helps a lot, too.)

rainy today after we had a pretty bad thunderstorm in the night. Alas, no wind at all so that it's still very hot. The air feels like a sticky toffee
