what's your local weather?

As hard as it is to believe, there are days when I think I have the shorter end of the stick. While it initially made for great bragging rights when I left behind a more Northern clime, but after three decades of hot & sunny most of the year I'm so over it and miss the change in seasons.

The only weather change here is the brief winter, the sudden summer downpours that can strip the flesh off your bones and the occasion hurricane to liven things up.

No fall. No spring. Hardly any cool, breezy days, just very hot or very cold. The only thing to look forward to with climate change is even more heat and eventually being under water in a few more decades.

Believe me there are days I miss snow and wish I could move somewhere else.
Yuck, sounds like where I am (Florida) except for the very cold part. I can't even remember the last time I was cold. This constant heat even in December is wearing on me.

Probably sounds similar due to us living in the same state . But you must not have lived here very long since at least to me it does get quite chilly when we have cold snaps off & on in January and February and temps in the 30's and 40's. Granted it doesn't last long, but at least it's somewhat of a "winter". But yeah, I do get tired of majority hot days and wish I could move to a milder clime with actual seasons.

Born and lived in Sarasota my whole life.

Maybe your blood hasn't thinned yet LOL. But even though I've dealt with the year-round heat here for 30 years now, just the fact I remember what real cold (and snow) is, it seems like anything below 60 is cold for me now and when the local news starts the yearly interview of that same grower in Plant City about the citrus crops freezing, I start to reach for the jacket.

I know it's a cliché, but it's not the heat in Florida that gets to me - it's the humidity.

Oh, and the Pterodactyl-sized bugs that apparently come equipped with gun turrets... :wtf:

Cloudy and chilly here today - low 50s - perfect weather for a hike with the dogs !

I don't really feel any humidity, for me it is the heat. The oppressive temps are only compounded by the fact that unless you are in the middle of a hurricane, a breeze or wind is practically non-existent.

But yeah, Palmetto bugs ain't your grandfather's garden variety roaches. The first time someone moves here and sees an insect that is capable of carrying off a toddler or little yappy dog it reminds one of the scene in Damnation Alley.

Vaporized by a phaser, shot down by the T-800 and then eaten alive by armored-plated cockroaches. When it came to character roles, poor Paul Winfield couldn't catch a break.

Rain, rain & more rain and it will continue till the evening at least. No outside walk for me today. I've been wearing a hole in the carpet trying to get my daily step goal inside...sigh.

Hugs, Reindeer ! :)

When it gets like this - rain, rain, and more rain here, too, unfortunately - I just put on my raincoat, hood up, and go outside anyway !

I have to take the dogs out no matter what, so I bought a professional "dog dryer" like they have at a groomer's, and I sit in front of it, too !

Thanks. It's not only so much the rain itself, but where I'm at it's very prone to minor flooding and that makes for stepping through a lot of puddles to take a walk. Which of course leads to soaked socks and shoes, which leads to possible trench foot, which could lead to amputation, but I digress.

Even the semi-feral feline moochers outside have been congregating on our front steps and the top of my car (paw prints all over my roof...:scream:!) all day trying to avoid roaming through standing water.

That's at least the one advantage of our indoor cats over dogs...no walking needed. They are perfectly happy staying inside 24/7, all while they no doubt in their naturally spiteful way make light of the ones that are forced to live outside.

But no matter, at present I only have 635 steps to go to hit my goal so I'll stick to laps of the living room and just pretend the head shaking, eye-rolling and snickering my wife occasionally throws my way is actually due to some funny cat video she is watching instead.

All that rain yesterday really dropped the temp, it hasn't gone over 70 today. It's now 57 in the early evening. I think the electric blanket is going to get some use tonight, which also means a bedful of mooching cats.

Started out in a heavy jacket, a hat, and gloves on our early morning walk, but it was sunny today, so by our mid-day walk was able to go in just a T-Shirt and jeans.
My 1 hour 45 minute bike ride started out a little cold, but by the end I was sweating, and wishing I had gone with the lighter jacket.

I saw a few drops of rain on the ground when I was getting ready to take a shower this morning, but by the time I got out of the shower the ground was dry, and there was no sign it had ever rained. It stayed cloudy and colder for a while, but it's been 2 hours and the sun is out and it's warming up.

It's -1 with light snow right now. However, it looks like we're getting a minor temperature spike over the next few days, and it's looking like Christmas will be grey and rainy. Yay for no snow (I'm one of those oddballs who prefer a green Christmas), but I could do without the rain, and some sunshine would have been nice. :)
