what's your local weather?

Yeah, I don't mind the rain and cold, but it can be quite hard to stay on the road when you are being blasted by an 80mph cross wind!

Fortunately I don't have any train trips planned for the next 2 months, but I use that line 2 or 3 times a year. To be honest though, the line is always down somewhere in Devon, I spent 3 hours in Exeter on Christmas Eve waiting for a bus replacement service that took me to... Tiverton! Yes, 3 hours to go 11 miles. So not an exaggeration to say I could have walked it faster.

The whole journey from Falmouth to Neath in Wales took 11 hours, as the crow flies it is 108 miles. I have crossed the Atlantic in less time. Ladies and Gentlemen, I present British trains.

Yes, travel in are part of the country is loads of fun, isn't it? It's time to reopen one of the inland lines, that's for certain. Curse you, Dr. Beeching!

Ah, Tiverton. The town of six fingers and webbed toes. ;)

Finally, some rain. The Sacramento Valley hasn't had much of a winter this year. There was talk of a drought, but I haven't looked into it yet, so i don't know of that worry is over or not.

It got kind of windy and gusty a while ago, though the temps are about the same as they were this morning and it's still grey and overcast. We might get some snow this coming weekend and next week, but right now the models aren't sure just what will happen.

Sunshine today - it's like 12F but the cat HAD to go out. Crazy. Supposed to get up to 32 so we may or may not get a little melting on all the ice and snow that's accumulated. And possibly more snow coming in on Sunday. Yay?

Right now, -11 C, with the sun trying to poke out. Most of the cleanup is done after the storm. The snowbanks are freakishly high. The thaw and melt wants to be a slow one or there is going to be some major flooding, especially in the older parts of the city.

The drought is definitely real and serious. The city of Sacramento has implemented rationing, as have many other cities and water districts. Folsom Lake is so dry that an old, submerged gold mining town is now visible.

The rain has been great the past few days, and will continue for the rest of the weekend. But it is the proverbial "drop in the bucket" compared to what we need. Rainfall and snow pack are way below normal.

It's bloody hot. Spent yesterday at the beach where the constant wind not mention being wet was lovely. Now I can feel the heat penetrating the walls..
