Contest: VOTE What's your favorite ENT character and why?

Season 3 T'Pol. Yes, it was the kind of drama and angst you find in teen-oriented stuff (emotional breakdowns, drugs, sexual awakenings), but I have a soft spot for that shit.

Followed by Trip. And then maaaaaaybe Malcolm (even though I hated him first watch through) but he really should have been Trek's first gay character and his feud with Major Hayes really should have ended very differently.

The rest were pretty much interchangeable, unfortunately.

My other favorite character on Enterprise is Lt. Malcolm Reed. Best damn Tactical officer, Security officer and sometimes engineer (created Red Alert sys, stun phazer and first 'force field'). Pretty good for a Lieutenant!

Phlox for me, that character was way underused on the show. Billingsley was by far the best actor on the show.

I think I liked the awkward, shy Malcolm. I'm not against gays but Malcolm was kind of like the man a woman might go for. He may be shy when with her but fiercely protective of her (just look how he protected the crew). He eventually did become friends with Major Hayes and since there were no scenes showing otherwise, I think he remained a sort of "ladies man". The Producers could have made him gay but they didn't. I've noticed lately all the characters Dominic Keating played were rather rough characters. Maybe that's why the Producers picked him for the part of Malcolm.

I've only seen the first two seasons so I'll play it safe and choose Porthos.
I adore animals. I like that Archer had a Beagle while exploring space and having first contacts like Darwin had his own Beagle (ship) while exploring Earth and making his discoveries and first contacts.

I have to say Dr Phlox and Archer are my favourites. Scott Bakula cops a bit of a bad rap for his portrayal of the captain but I like him.

To that list I'd like to add that blue skin with the antennas Shran. he's a cool character, and played brilliantly by Jeffrey Combs.

After rewatching the whole thing, T'Pol & Hoshi & Phlox grew on me a lot.

Joline did an amazing job with some questionable writing/plot decisions and the whole catsuit thing.

I do not get the whole Phlox = Neelix thing. I never found Phlox annoying.

Hoshi grew into a badass.

Shran. Because the Andorian mining consortium runs from nobody!

Actually Shran, because he's a complex guy. Arrogant, prone to violence, but also kind of honourable and willing to avoid violence. And yet also with a sense of humour.

Indeed the blue skin was a great character.

What about Chef? Chef is the unseen hero that kept our crew fed.

Of the regular crew it has to be Archer and Trip for me .

I loved Archer , I thought his flaws and mistakes were well suited for Earths first deep space mission. I also thought Scott Bakula did a wonderful job with the role, his early optimism was quickly tempered by experience, leading the the dark captain of season three , with a nice recovery to a more seasoned balanced approach in season four.

Trip worked fantastic with all the rest of the cast, I think it was part writing and part acting for sure. Everyone elses best moments were when they were in a scene with Trip. He brought out the best in everyone and he really was the heart of the crew.

For non regular cast Shran is the man :) Jeffery Combs delivers yet another wonderful , memorable performance as a star trek guest

Sigh for the lack of season 5... I would loved to have continued to watch Archer grow and imagine if Shran joined the cast :D

That was the rumor at the time, that the plan was to have Jeff Combs become a regularly appearing character in some fashion. I had read some articles online that suggested a possible role directly on the Enterprise, but that didn't seem plausible given Shran's command experience. I tend to think they might have had Shran as a captain on another earth vessel as part of a cultural exchange program.

For the record Trip was my favorite character, followed closely by Archer. Both characters showed tremendous growth over the (s)pan of four seasons. I wish there had been a fifth season, but unfortunately it didn't happen. All shows end - this one a few seasons too early.

I think I heard that rumor on this site;
back when the show was airing, I thought Shrans comment about how 'the imperial guard doesn't reward captains who loose ships with new commands' could have been great foreshadowing for Shran getting a star fleet commission, maybe even as captain based on his prior experience. sigh, so many opportunities )

completely agree about Trip and Archer, they grew individually in different and equally great ways. Ironically I felt the relationship between the two of them specifically wasn't as strong as I had hoped. The back story of them meeting in First Flight was warm and felt true, them bonding over their belief in his fathers engine, and then getting into some hi jinx to prove it makes this one of my favorite episodes. :)

Hell I wouldn't mind a miniseries now, with Shran getting the refit NX-01 after the war's end, with Archer off to be pres. Throw in a multi-species crew and see what former cast members you could get to come back.
