And I have to say I'm lovin' Cuya's Retroprize!

it was in First Contact in the Battle of Sector 001. some clod managed to lose the 3D model files IIRC, so it never reappeared.

I like the Akira, Sovereign, and Defiant the best out of Starfleet ships (yeah, I can't pick just one either) and the D'deridex and Valdore out of other types.
The Sovereign isn't quite up with the ones I mentioned, but it's still just below the "top tier" for me. And because any excuse is a good enough excuse for me to throw out more ship shots, here's another nice Sovvie shot: :D

As for the Romulans, I always thought the D'deridex was pretty good, but I definitely prefer the Valdore.
That Diligent class looks pretty cool, kind of like an Intrepid mixed with a Defiant.
Hmm, I can see what you mean... it does have some notable elements from both of those classes. I loved the design from the moment I saw it, and immediately thought it would make a great cutting-edge, almost brand new science vessel design for my Trek story ideas (which all take place in the 2390s). Here's an excellent pic showing all the main angles.

There are some problems here, though; I disagree with the size figures, and it's labeled here as a "Destroyer Escort", which as I mentioned isn't the vibe I get from it, but whatever. Also, dunno why they put "Star Fleet" instead of "Starfleet."

Wow. Those are... really, really ugly. To me, anyway.

That "Chariot" class... it's basically a Federation ship trying to be a B-wing from Star Wars.

Steamrunner.
I see this steamrunner mentioned quite a bit lately. Is it from a movie or series? Or is it from somewhere else? I do not remember seeing it. Thanks.
'Twas one of four ship classes (along with Akira, Saber, and Norway) to debut during the battle against the Cube in First Contact. Beyond that, it's been seen a handful of times in fleets during the last couple seasons of DS9. Though we've never gotten a very good look at it on-screen, honestly (the only FC ship that we HAVE gotten a nice view of on-screen is the Akira). The Steamrunner is another one that I really like, though it's not quite in "top favorite" territory. I'd post some additional pics of it, but I'm at work, and am limited to what I have on this little memory stick that I keep in my backpack, which currently has no Steamrunner shots. :p After I get home, though, I can delve into my massive collection of starship renders.

EDIT: Ninja'd by captcalhoun regarding the origins of the Steamrunner. However, you're thinking of the Norway; that was the CG model that was lost sometime after FC.

Probably the same reason some people who think they're fans call it Star Track...that's really annoying, isn't it? :)

I keep thinking of more ships I like... the Aventine is pretty cool and I also neglected to mention I love the Galaxy class. Hey Triumphant, would you happen to have a bigger picture of the Nogura? Just curious, I'd love to see more detail. I'm intrigued by your ideas. :)

Sadly, no. I used to have a nice little wooden model of the basic shape that a friend of mine made for me, but it had less detail (aside from being 3D), really, and got lost during a move about 8 years ago. :(

Federation:
Sovereign
Galaxy
Akira
Intrepid
Defiant

Non-Federation:
Romulan Warbird D'Deridex Class
Romulan Warbird Norexan (Valdore) Class
Klingon Negh'Var
Breen ship (What is it's class?)

I also find it hard to pick just one favorite Starfleet class starship. Being a bit old school, the original is still the best -- TOS Constitution-class, pre-refit. After that, almost neck and neck, would be the TMP refit, followed by the Enterprise-E Sovereign-class starship from the TNG movies.

Now, I also like many of the non-Starfleet ships. My favorite of them all is the Romulan D'deridex warbird from TNG, followed by the original Klingon D-7 warship, then the Klingon bird of prey from TSFS --wish I had my very own bird of prey to fly around in.

I must also mention I really liked the design of the Ferengi marauder vessel from TNG, as it looks like a horseshoe crab, a unique design, considering the Klingon and Romulan designs emulate birds. Finally, I like the scarab/beetle look of the Dominion's Jem'Hadar warships.

Federation? For me, it was the Galaxy Class. A very elegant design and for me the sight of it sums up the spirit of TNG and what made that show special and different from what came before and after. I also like the Nebula Class, which is pretty similar, the Constitution Class - especially the version in the latest film - and the Olympic Class from All Good Things.

As for alien ships, my favourite is the Romulan Warbird (I can't remember how to spell the name of the class, but you all know what I mean). That design always struck me as really elegant and menacing. Honourable mentions go to the Ferengi Marauder (I'd have loved to have seen one of those on Deep Space Nine), Borg Cubes and, although I guess it was the only one of its kind, the Voth City Ship in Voyager.

Best ship? Luna-class, hands down. A ship designed from the ground up to be a deep space explorer that truly represents the Federation because it's designed to support the environmental needs of all Federation member species.
