What's your favorite Christmas movie?

A Christmas Carol (1984) [George C. Scott as Scrooge]
Yay! I was just watching this last night. For me, this will always be the best adaptation ever.

The rest of my "must watch" list every year:

  • A Charlie Brown Christmas
  • Christmas Eve on Sesame Street
  • The Family Stone
  • Home for the Holidays (even though it's set at Thanksgiving)
  • How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (the cartoon)
  • Love Actually
  • White Christmas

Yes, great choices, especially A Charlie Brown Christmas , How The Grinch Stole Christmas(cartoon) and White Christmas.

Being indecisive I'm afraid it's a tie:

"Miracle on 34th Street" (original) and "It's a Wonderful Life."

Opposite sides of the spectrum:

"A Christmas Story"
"Bad Santa"

I actually met somebody a few weeks ago that has never seen "A Christmas Story"; I told them how awesoem it is, and how they can't miss it seeing as how TBS(?) runs it 24 hours a day Christmas Day.

Favorite kid's shows:

How the Grinch Stole Christmas (cartoon, natch)
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

And everyone (myself included) gets a big slap on the hand for forgetting the greatest Anti-Christmas film of them all... Gremlins!!! :bolian:

Hugo - The worst thing that ever happened to me was on Christmas. Oh, God. It was so horrible. It was Christmas Eve. I was 9 years old. Me and Mom were decorating the tree, waiting for Dad to come home from work. A couple hours went by. Dad wasn't home. So Mom called the office. No answer. Christmas Day came and went, and still nothing. So the police began a search. Four or five days went by. Neither one of us could eat or sleep. Everything was falling apart. It was snowing outside. The house was freezing, so I went to try to light up the fire. That's when I noticed the smell. The firemen came and broke through the chimney top. And me and Mom were expecting them to pull out a dead cat or a bird. And instead they pulled out my father. He was dressed in a Santa Claus suit. He'd been climbing down the chimney... his arms loaded with presents. He was gonna surprise us. He slipped and broke his neck. He died instantly. And that's how I found out there was no Santa Claus. :borg:

Like others, I can't just pick one...

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Scrooged
Die Hard
Die Hard 2
Gremlins
Gremlins 2
A Christmas Carol (the Patrick Stewart one)

White Christmas
A Pocket Full of Miracles
Elf

and I like the Tim Allen Santa Claus movies as well...in order of apperance

Merry, Merry to all

1) Christmas Vacation
2) Bad Santa
3) Scrooged
4) Gremlins

I also always watch the X-Files episode "How the Ghosts Stole Christmas" and read Santaland Diaries by David Sedaris (which they really should make into a movie...).
