(these are just some plastic disney figures in front of my tv)

Cant find anything about it in the troublshooting section of the manual. Time to get a new camera? :(
if there were no people were you pointed the camera at, you should be really concerned, otherwise upgrade to a better camera. it's quite old and a miracle it survived so long. had one of them and liked the videos in 640x480 it made, they were quite good. made lots of them and my a70 broke down after 1 1/2 years only.
newer canons (and other brands of course) make hd movies in 1080p or 720p, outstanding quality. i tried a sony cybershot first, but was appalled that the videos constantly shift in and out of focus, and were good for nothing. so i stuck with a hd canon in the end. although the videos are better, the files are even smaller by some trick of software. there was another issue with the sony, it was impossible to put it on a tripod and connect it to a monitor to record and watch the video at the same time, because the socket for the cable is at its bottom. as soon as you start the recording, the monitor goes dark anyway. seems the sony stops sending signals to the tv when recording.
