Something like Aviator class, or Astronaut class, then?
Aren't the class names always just the name of the first ship of that class built? Most of those make sense as starship names, but save perhaps the Crossfield class none of the names make sense as a class name IMO.
That's an assumption but not a guarantee.Aren't the class names always just the name of the first ship of that class built?

Either India or Toronto would be consistent with speaking English. India has a lot of people who learn English as a second language in school. If you want to be in the government or work closely with them, or large businesses, you learn English.Unless that’s just how the universal translator is making it sound/appear to us viewers? But there’s onscreen evidence in both directions here. On the one hand, Khan awakening hears Kirk speaking in English. (Then again, is he from the Indian subcontinent, or a genetics lab in Toronto?). OTOH, the UT breaking down in that DISCO episode results in cacophony.
Not necessarily. The only Canadian provinces where French is regularly spoken are Quebec and New Brunswick. Toronto is in Ontario.Toronto Khan would probably know French, too.
Yes, and by that time, if there is a techno-organic/holographic Starfleet vessel operated by an exotic, diverse crew, then it hopefully will not have a name like the USS Lexington. And it would need to be in a work set in the 32nd Century or later.

As was the case with me in Nova Scotia. I don't remember anything about French today, though and certainly wouldn't be so bold as to say I know French.I live in Ontario - we learned French in public school from grade 4-9 mandatorily,

Why not?
Genuine question.
Yeah, and most of us still can't speak it.I live in Ontario - we learned French in public school from grade 4-9 mandatorily, but I took it in Grades 10-12 as well. There was also the option to have French immersion schooling, too. (Who knows what they taught the Augments in their private school though?)
I’m assuming because Starfleet and the Federation are a multi-species organization, and should have proper representation for its member races more than their ship classes being named after human pilots from 300 years ago.
I know the Spore Drive and the Discovery's mission was classified. But are you telling me that no one in Starfleet remembered Saru, Dr. Jett Reno, or Dr. Paul Stammets, before their reappearance in the 32nd Century? (It's been a while since I watched DISCO.)
But they don’t have proper representation. Ship classes are (almost) all English words that describe human concepts.
Could have been named after the actual Paul Stamets.Stammets had a shuttle.
