What's weirder? Talking to yourself or talking to an inanimate object?

Re: What's weirder? Talking to yourself or talking to an inanimate obj

I don't know what's worse..talking to yourself or asking yourself a question and then answer it. I do that all the time too! :wtf:

Oh thank you for posting that! I am not insane then. I do tend to ask myself questions 'what shall we do today?' I don't know what do you want to do?' Then we end up argueing...

 But why don't I have a dominant part? I see it as an angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other (played in the film by Meg Ryan and Jack Nicholson)

Talking to a cardboard cutout of a rabbit in the front seat of your car is far stranger than anything I've ever done.

That's a good build up for a defence should you ever need one -remember to save this thread!

Consider yourself lucky!

This enormous rabbit that's taken to follow me around is invisible to everyone else...

Re: What's weirder? Talking to yourself or talking to an inanimate obj

There once was a sergeant in my unit who had PTSD bad. He would get upset and start hollering at himself and walking back and forth in the parking lot. We ignroed him until he calmed down. Eventually the first sergeant made him go see a shrink then they sent him to another Army post.

He was a good guy and I gotta admit it was funny watching him walking back and forth cursing himself out for a mistake he had made.

I wondered where Harvey had gotten to.

Or do you just hear him?

Re: What's weirder? Talking to yourself or talking to an inanimate obj

I do it all the time. Like others I talk to my car, usually to tell it that I like it, despite the fact its having some problems, or that I miss it after being away on business for a week and a half. Of course, who doesn't talk to their sputtering computer, or their non-responsive mouse or slow printer? I also sometimes talk to myself when its too quite in the house and things need to be livened up a bit. Oh, and I also sometimes blurt out famous movie or tv lines, again, usually when its too quiet in the house.

:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

I know what you mean. Sometimes when I don't like my answer to something I've asked myself I turn to the imagined live studio audience myself, saying something terribly (un)clever.

Re: What's weirder? Talking to yourself or talking to an inanimate obj

I have conversations with myself all the time, but I will also address inanimate objects if they are "doing" something worth noting.

YES! Especially cars and computers. I praise them constantly to send good vibes so they don't break. Seems to have worked with my computer, but not so much my car..

Well, I thought it was strange when I was having arguments with myself. The rabbit, though makes up for it =)
