What's weirder? Talking to yourself or talking to an inanimate object?

Thespeckledkiwi

Vice Admiral
So, as I was driving down the freeway tonight, with this cardboard cut out of a rabbit in my passenger seat (it's actually pretty damn cute) I had a weird thought, since I was talking to it. What's weirder? Since I usually talk to myself most of the time to get my thoughts straight, people look at me weird. But if you saw someone having a conversation with an inanimate object like, a paperclip, would that be weirder?

Re: What's weirder? Talking to yourself or talking to an inanimate obj

I *am* an inanimate object. I have conversations with myself all the time, so I wouldn't tell the difference.

Re: What's weirder? Talking to yourself or talking to an inanimate obj

I have conversations with myself all the time, but I will also address inanimate objects if they are "doing" something worth noting.

I'm glad i'm not the only one who talks to myself. It makes me feel normal to see others do it as well. I don't talk to objects much but I do get angry at my pennis sometimes. I hate going to the bathroom and when I get there I can't go. I make threats like, if you don't hurry up i'm not going to pleasure you, and it works sometimes but I also think it calls my bluff alot as well.

Maybe your penis would cooperate more if you spelled its name correctly.

Eh, neither is weird. It's just best not to do it out loud when there are people watching. :rommie:

Based on this post-I think its weirder to talk to the BolianChef.;)

Re: What's weirder? Talking to yourself or talking to an inanimate obj

I used to get a lot of those 'look at that weirdo'-kinda looks while talking to myself, and the groceries I was looking at, until I started using my internet-headphones (with the built in (quite visible) microphone) on my mp3-player -I think people just assume I'm on the phone with someone... works for me!

Re: What's weirder? Talking to yourself or talking to an inanimate obj

I don't think wither is weird.

I talk to myself, I talk to my cats, I talk to my favourite teddy bear (Bexley) and occasionally to other soft toys, I occasionally talk to my computer.

Re: What's weirder? Talking to yourself or talking to an inanimate obj

I swear at my computer-does that count?

Re: What's weirder? Talking to yourself or talking to an inanimate obj

^ As long as it deserves it. :bolian:

I don't think it is weird at all. I talk to myself all the time. I find it a very good way to work out problems or think through a particularly difficult work-related issue. I will even vocalize what I am writing just to see if it sounds good. I also tend to chastise myself out loud when I do something stupid.

And I admit it. I talk to inanimate objects. For example, I wished my Karl Urban/McCoy doll a good day when I left for work this morning. I also talk to the tv. However, I am well aware that they are not going to answer me back. If they ever did, I would run screaming from the house. :rommie:

Re: What's weirder? Talking to yourself or talking to an inanimate obj

Neither. It's more unusual to be completely silent. I talk to favourite things, or shout at hated things - washing machine, occasionally. Myself all the time - at least I'm listening and can understand.
