What's the worst place to work on the Enterprise?

I always thought it was hilarious that the Rottweiler which played the mirror Porthos was actually a nicer dog ("an even bigger baby", they said) than the beagle which was the regular version.

On toilets, I do believe Ilia entered a toilet after her brief talk with Decker. The door is near a corner two corridors so the room must be small. Also she is the navigator and that scene is during a time in the story they aren't navigating much.

On the worst job, some years ago I read a funny piece about the "holodeck janitor"

:guffaw:

Or pit bull maybe???

Oops, I totally forgot that scene. Your comment makes me wonder if the implications of the MU carry over to animals. I don't know, or given the slip up above, remember, if that's ever been broached.

I will venture to take a little liberty with the OP, by offering that the answer to the question if one were talking about Voyager, would be sitting in the seat next to Janeway. :)

Worst Enterprise jobs:
-TOS - Kirk's girdle tightener/toupee maker
-TNG - Picard's barber/head polisher
-DS9 - Quark's holosuite janitor

One of those security guys from the first few TOS movies. People would laugh or roll their eyes every time they saw you.

Apart from this... no, we haven't.

In fact other than Porthos, and Livingston - Picard's fish - we almost never see Trek characters keep regular pets onscreen. Porthos is the only one we've seen in the MU.

We did have Data's cat, Spot. And when he/she got pregnant, Data mentioned that there were several cats on board. Apparently roaming free.
There's the job. Picking up random cat poop and hairballs around the ship.

I seem to recall reading the swine that portrayed the klingon targ in TNG pissed or shat on the set and the stain remained throughout the season. I dont have the blurays so I cannot confirm that myself.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Spot, my bad. :alienblush:

I doubt there is a MU Spot, though. In most interpretations of TNG-era mirror continuity that I've seen, Data doesn't even exist. And in those MU's where he did, I doubt he'd be the type who would keep a pet.

The whole place would smell of cat pee. Thank god smellovision doesn't exist!
According to Doug Drexler, makeup artist on TNG and later art dept. on DS9; the set's had a notorious odor of cat pee (along with lumber and paint smells).
It's mentioned in his facebook article "The Butt of the Joke"

Which is a bit weird, as you'd think Spot would be in a cage between takes. My guess: the studio was infested with rats. :p

The worst job on the Enterprise-D would be the helm when Riker is on bridge duty, the odds are not in your favor that he won't put his crotch right next to your head.

:guffaw: Ok, definitely this! Plus...

The Sciences, Engineering, the Helm, or any other F-ing position that took a Starfleet Academy education, maybe a PHD, several years of experience, and lots of ass-kissing to get, only to be passed up for a career-making assignment in favor of some punk kid named Wesley.

Tribble clean-up detail.

Not cleaning up Tribbles, but cleaning up after Tribbles. Because what goes in *must* come out. ;)

Ben Finney in the research pod? If Kirk sneezes and hits that button - blam, off you go.

"Turbolift Control" sounds boring. I forget the episode that Picard calls for them.

How about the guys in charge of blinky light maintenance.
Those things are everywhere. Specially the really big ones outside on the hull.
