What's the worst canon decision in the history of Trek?

Manny Coto came aboard around the 7th episode or so of season 3. He was promoted to head writer for season 4, where he was laying all the groundwork to build for seasons 5 onward. I think it's also a big reason why he tapped Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens for season 4... they wrote a LOT of STAR TREK novels.

I believe what Trelane meant was that in the fourth season Coto was laying down groundwork for plots the show could revisit in a potential fifth season, and perhaps even a sixth and seventh. Coto did say that had the show continued past the fourth season, there would be regular revisits to the Mirror Universe, which was part of the reason why they went to the trouble of creating a new credit sequence specifically for the MU episodes.

The planned fifth season MU story has since been adapted into a novel.
Ah, I always have trouble keeping that straight. Thank you for the explanation.

I would be curious to see that MU story unfold on screen, especially given the push back the MU has seen of late.

Ok, that makes sense. I know Coto was planning the series beyond Season 4, but now the whole Mirror Universe thing makes more sense, especially why they changed the theme (Which was an amazing theme by the way). I'm approaching the end of my ENT rewatch and I'm still bummed it got cancelled after season 4. Considering the Vulcan and Andorian Arcs, Enterprise was really turning into the prequel that we were promised.

The story as I remember it, Coto was interested in getting some novel writers involved in Enterprise, but when he got in contact with Pocket Books to get contact information for the authors, Pocket would only provide contact information for Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens.

Didn't they bring him in during Season 3. If I recall he had nothing to do with Seasons 1 or 2.
I believe he was previously on the writing staff, but they didn't really let him take the lead until season 4. That is what I read at the time. He went on after Enterprise to write 24 and other acclaimed shows. I think he was the best writer on the Enterprise show.
