What's the nearest body of water to you?

Not counting small streams, the closest body of water is the Tamar River.

Non-river speaking, its the English Channel

There's a river underneath my town running the full length of the main street (it was paved over in 1853), although it's tiny compared to some of the mighty rivers some have posted here.

The Indian Ocean - where I was yesterday on a whale watching cruise.

I am a bit sunburned today but it was AWESOME!!!

I actually got to see a whale breach out of the water, into the air!!!!

All I could think was,

"Admiral, THERE BE WHALES HERE!!!"

:)

Damn southern hemisphere!

cough cough! snort!

Trust me - I LOATHE summer here in Western Australia. Two Boxing Days ago we got 44!!!!!! That is just inhumane.

Sick to death of it.

I was just talking to relatives the other day and we said we'd give ANYTHING for a lovely, cold Christmas where you could light a log fire and the house would actually be warmed partly by the cooking of the Christmas roast dinner. Rather than dreading the humid and stinking hot summer day we get here.

Yep - going to have to go up north one year to have a nice cold, white Christmas!

For me, The Solent, between where I live and the Isle of Wight.

I've lived here all my life. When I moved to Brighton for 4 years, and even whe I go back, the absence of the Island on the horizon still doesn't look right!

We live on the Fox River in Northern Illinois in the western suburbs of Chicagoland; the river is about a five-minute walk away.

Lake Michigan is about 50 miles due east.

Down here on the Mississippi coast the closest body of water to me is the Gulf of Mexico. There are several smaller lakes & rivers around, but that one is the biggest. I'm about 5 miles from it.

I've had loads of them. From the Indian Ocean, over the Rio Tiete in Sao Paulo, Rio dos Sinos in Sao Leopoldo, the North Sea, the River Thames, the Elbe.... I like living near water.

Now, I live close to the Leine Kanal, in Hannover, Lower Saxony, Germany.
