What's the nearest body of water to you?

I think it's a tie between the Como Lake and the Po River. The nearest sea is the Ligurian Sea, part of the Mediterranean.

either the stream and canal about a mile down the bottom of the hill or Toadsmoor lake about a mile, mile and a half away the other side of the hill.

I live about 10 blocks from the Minneapolis chain of lakes (Lake Calhoun, Lake Harriet, and Lake of the Isles) and I work right next to the Mississippi River. We're very lucky to be near all this!

This answer varies a lot according to where I am. Right now, it's the River Derwent.

Odense Å is about five houses down from here.

I took a few shots of it last fall:

Half of town is on either side of the river, so many bridges cross it; above: four lanes of cars and two of bicycles, below: one of the parks along the river.

Loads of wooden bridges along the footpath...

...on which you can walk (or bicycle) along the river all through town.

Technically, the San Gabriel River, but it's become pretty much all just for flood control now, so it is the Pacific Ocean.

well I have lots of small man made lakes VERY close to me, but the nearest big body of water would be the River Welland a few miles away, not forgeting Europe's largest man made lake Rutland Water is within an hours drive.

The Patapsco River is about 10 blocks away. That leads into the Chesapeake Bay just outside the harbor.

Oh - pictures! I've got some.

The Flint River:

The Holloway Dam. I used to climb out on the tops of those concrete buttresses late at night and get stoned:
