What's the name of this classic arcade game?

I can't find this game anywhere. It's a tank game where everything in the game is made up of green lines and the rest is black screen. The tanks and ground obstacles and the mountains in the background are just their basic shapes made up of these green lines and the rest is see-through. In other words, if there are two enemy tanks near you and one is behind the other, you can see through the first and see the second one behind it. Otherwise, everything else is black. The ground is black, the sky is black. While playing the game you can look at a circular map in the top right corner of the screen and see enemy tanks as red dots to the right or left of your line of site. Does anyone know this game and what it's called and where I can find it?

I remember having SO much fun with that game. IIRC, your military rank advanced with your score. It was pretty addictive trying to reach a higher rank!

Thanks, TLV. With the name, I was able to look it up on Wikipedia. The screen on the link you gave had everything but the tanks in red. The one I remember had everything green. Wiki has an all green screenshot.

I agree, Holdfast, it's a great game. I'd like to find it and buy it.

^ The BBC Electron/Acorn/whatever it was called version of the game was all-green. That's the one I remember playing at home!

I don't remeber what color the screen of the stand up arcade game was. I just remember the cool scope that you looked through while playing. That version must've been the red screen. I'd love to buy one of those and put it in my place.

The original stand-up arcade game I used to play was green lines on black screen. I don't remember red at all.

I never got into arcade games very much, but that one was great.

Yeah, I found that link earlier and played the game. Only, I remember there being an explosion sound effect when you blew up an enemy tank. That game on the Atari site has no sound when you destroy a tank. Maybe I'm remembering a later version, but it would seem that explosion sound effects would be an important part of the game, especially back then when games were limited in what they could do. You do hear an explosion when you get killed. Maybe I'll email'em and ask if that's how it was originally released.

I'm kind of on a classic arcade game kick since watching The King of Kong last night. The documentary was OK. Man, some of those guys were out there, but it was the extras on the DVD that made the experience more palatable.
