Not so much a debate thread... I just wanted to share some images I found on-line:

shishkin-33.jpg

shishkin-116.jpg

shishkin-21.jpg

shishkin-100.jpg

All from English Russia -where there are plenty more! :)

And -of course- there are also alternate takes on 'classic masterpieces' -if you're into that sort of thing:

...and my favourite:

If you have any similarly disfigured paintings please share them here!

The only ones I know off the top of my head are the Scream, the sunflowers, the Beatles, Jesus and the apostles and the patrons. Pretty cute. :D

That is a whole collection of canon violations right there. :guffaw:

My personal favourite from that collection:

Ah, it's the factually accurate version of the painting.:p

Now that you mention it... first man and a puff of smoke does sound more accurate :rommie:

In case RJD isn't the only one having problems identifying the images I posted in the OP I've looked them all up and found links for further reading:

Edvard Munch: The Scream
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Scream

James McNeill Whistler's mother
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whistler's_Mother

René Magritte: Golconda
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golconda_(painting)

Vincent van Gogh: Sunflowers
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunflowers_(series_of_paintings)

Jacques-Louis David: The Death of Marat

Iain Macmillan: Abbey Road cover

Leonardo da Vinci: Last Supper
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_last_supper

Edward Hopper: Nighthawks
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nighthawks

The guy getting an apple right in the face is from
René Magritte: The Son of Man
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Son_of_Man

The boy with the fag is of course from
Michelangelo: the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel

Recognized them all, though I wouldn't have been able to name either of the Magrittes without first looking them up. (Which is kind of a pity, as I like Magritte quite a lot.)

6) Left to right George , Paul, Ringo, & John
7) Jesus and the disciples
8) the people at the dinner
9) ??
10) God

I was pretty sure that was Whistler's Mother, but I didn't want to cheat by Googling. :rommie:

Wouldn't be cheating as it's not a contest, but I do wonder how you'd google it if you didn't have an idea on the title or artist!
Personally I'd use this right-click add-on I have: "Search Image on TinEye"! ;) -- In many cases you can find manipulated images like these when you're just looking up some old painting:
