What's left for you in 2008 (in movies)?

Well, the summer movie season is starting to ramp down a little bit, for me at least, now that The Dark Knight has come and gone. That was my most anticipated film of the year and now that it has passed it has come to my attention that there is in fact half a year left of films. ;)

So, without further ado...

- American Teen. A documentary following four high school kids belonging to various "cliques" that received rave reviews at Sundance.

- Pineapple Express. The beginning of the R-rated comedies for me this year.

- Tropic Thunder. Another one that looks like damn fun. Something I may even like Ben Stiller in.

- Hamlet 2. Looks quirky and kinda fun.

- Righteous Kill. de Niro and Pacino together again? I'm there.

- Burn After Reading, gotta love those Cohens.

- W. Call it a morbid curiosity. Probably a mid-day cheap matinee for me.

- Zack and Miri Make a Porno. I'm a huge Kevin Smith fan, this is a must. by far my most anticipated for the rest of the year.

- Quantum of Solace. Casino Royale was great, can't wait for this.

- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The teaser just came out today and it looks sufficiently dark and interesting.

- The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I'm liking Brad Pitt in his serious roles more and Cate Blanchett is always wonderful.

And then there are those that are iffy whether or not I'll either see them in the theater or wait until DVD...

- Brideshead Revisited. l love Emma Thompson but with so much coming out this year, this can probably wait.

- Star Wars: The Clone Wars. I'm so on the fence about this it is ridiculous. Some previews make it look way too kiddy, others make it look fairly good. We'll see I suppose.

- The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. I really don't want to see it but the girlfriend might end up dragging me to it if she doesn't have anyone else who will go.

- Max Payne

- RocknRolla

- Bolt. I may be in the mood for a semi-decent looking kids film by the time I've seen all these rather adult ones. It happens sometimes, I need "fluff" to pad the rest.

- Twilight. Again no interest, but girlfriend may drag me to it.

- The Day the Earth Stood Still

- The Spirit. I'd rather have Sin City 2.

I think it's most likely that the only other movie I'll see at the theatre this year (the first one being TDK) will be Quantum of Solace.

Movies I plan to see at the theatre...

- The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. I'll drag myself out to see it. What the hell. I'll see it eventually, may as well be now.

- Quantum of Solace. It's James Bond. I'm there.

- Transporter 3. I'm a big fan of the franchise.

- The Day the Earth Stood Still. A remake of an old classic, and it has Jennifer Connelly.

Movies I'd like to see but might wait for...

- Pineapple Express. Looked good from what I've seen and Seth Rogen is good for a laff. I'm leaning toward seeing it at the theatre, but it's not a definate.

- Tropic Thunder. Looks alright, but it can wait.

- Star Wars: The Clone Wars. I'm leaning toward not bothering to go out and plop down $10 for this one.

- Passengers. A fall Anne Hathaway thriller that looks good. Haven't decided if I'll see it in September or wait.

- Blindness. I was impressed by the trailer. It reminded me of Children of Men. It's about an epidemic where everyone starts going blind. I'd like to see it at the theatre, but I haven't decided yet.

- The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I'll think about it more as the date approaches.

I can't say that these lists are complete. It's possible that something I've never heard of might catch my interest.

I'll probably check out Pineapple Express, Quantum of Solace, and Harry Potter. Harry Potter I might hold off on for a few months as I have for the others in the series, but they movies tend to have legs so that shouldn't be a problem. Oh, and Blindless looks really interesting, but I might wait for a few reviews. I got Children of Men vibes from the trailer, which is usually a good thing.

Quantum of Solace, probably Star Wars (it is Star Wars after all), maybe The Day the Earth Stood Still if it's not a total disgrace but that's it.

Oh, and The X-Files but that's not out here yet.

Zack and Miri
Clone Wars
Quantum of Solace
Tropic Thunder
Max Payne

and probably a few "Oscar Movies" that look good.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Quantum of Solace
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Bolt
That Mexican Little League Team Movie (I don't remember the real title)

Those are the definites. For the rest, I need trailers and reviews to convince me to see them.

Tropic Thunder all the way!
X-Files
Oh, and TDK I guess, when it hits dollar theaters.

Body of Lies
Directed by Ridley Scott, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe
Oh yeah, I totally forgot about that. I'm really looking forward to it.

The actors for that film look great but the trailer I've seen in theaters a few times now doesn't really grab me. Or even show what it's about. Lots of yelling, Russell Crowe being smarmy and then more yelling.

Death Race
Quantum of Solace
The Day that Earth Stood Still
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
W.
Burn After Reading
Body of Lies
Vicky Cristina Barcelona

This year I'll be taking another trip to The X-Files, seeing A Quantum of Solace, probably seeing Tropic Thunder, maybe seeing The Clone Wars, and then going to whatever Oscar bait comes out in the fall.
