That, for a Vulcan, had to be from more than just knowledge, because of the way they process their emotions.

No, it likely was the knowledge. Witnessing the destruction of his home and death of his mother was likely too much for him to process, even as a Vulcan trained to repress emotions.

What we saw as a visual of Vulcan's destruction during his mindmeld with Kirk was probably Prime Spock's interpretation of what he sensed, passed through the filter of Kirk's understanding of it.

Or it was meant to be taken literally and Spock Prime really did witness the destruction of Vulcan in the sky above Delta Vega. Abrams pulled the same thing in Star Wars after all, without the benefit of sharing memories through a mind-meld filtered for human interpretation.

Neither Spock or Sarek seemed to sense the death of Vulcan despite being in orbit of it.

He doesn't show it in ST'09, but on the ride to Kronos in ID he talks about feeling the death of all the Vulcans, and their emotions as they died, as the planet was destroyed.

I too agree Sybok is probably out there somewhere.

Wouldn't Sybok's "revolutionary" ways, forbidden ability's for which he was exiled to begin with be part of his DNA? I think so, (ENT episode had a group of them) therefore I doubt New Vulcan would be interested in him donating his genes anyway.

The 'rogue' Vulcans in ENT were mind melders, and the Captain tried chicken, but they did not show they had Sybok's abilities

Sybok was exiled when Spock was young, so he was probably off planet when it was destroyed.

With so few Vulcans left -- and so many of the survivors more likely to succumb to despair or a sense of disconnection from the loss of their home world -- he'll find it easier to recruit followers to his little cult. More than likely, he'll emerge with a small colony (Compound? Community? Spiritual retreat?) and a population that reveres him as a kind of prophet since he took away their pain over the loss of their loved ones and their civilization.

Actually that's not a bad a story idea. A rogue Vulcan faction that devotes itself to passion and constantly searching for the Promised Land at Sha Ka Ree, which they presume will be their new home world now that Vulcan isn't an option...

It's a great idea, and they find Sha ka Ree on Risa....how convenient and appropriate. They can open up a BDSM club and share all their pain.
