What's going on over at The Trek Collective?

I think that must be it. I've tried multiple ways and people to get ahold of him, all to no avail. I was hoping he'd come back in the new year, so for the next few days I will hold out a final hope. But barring that I think we should accept that he's quit and move on. Defcon has already started "replacing" at least one aspect of the Trek Collective in putting up a great release schedule page. Others will surely continue to do the same as time goes on. There really doesn't seem to be anything more to do.

Since we know 8of5 appears to be OK, my big concern now is if we're going to get a new home for Thrawn's reading guide. @Thrawn have you thought about moving anywhere?

For the last few iterations, we've discussed the changes together and then he's made the file. I'm not sure what software or format he's using, and I don't have the source files. So if he doesn't re-emerge, either I or someone else will have to re-make the thing from scratch. Admittedly, this is a bit daunting.

My current plan is to give it until roughly August of this year (just about everything on the chart currently will be published by then) to see if he reappears or makes contact, and if he hasn't by then, to re-make it myself and see if I can get one of the other awesome sites hosted by people on this board to put it up.

I'm more worried about 8of5 than I am about the flowchart, though. Weird for him to drop off the radar completely.

Perhaps 8of5 has personal reasons for his absence and those who do know something are keeping quiet out of respect for his privacy? He is entitled to his privacy and doesn't owe any of us an explanation for why he hasn't updated his website.

I completely agree with this. If someone has given me some kind of entertainment of any kind they are under no obligation to keep doing what ever they were doing or explain to me why they have decided to stop.

FWIW I would be willing to have it at my blog. Couldn't help much with the file itself, though. Though I guess the perfect place would be @ryan123450 `s site for future versions if 8 of 5 doesn't reemerge.

Yeah, as I said up-thread I'm pretty sure he's still active on another Twitter account ( as in 90%+ sure), but I feel stalkerish enough by actually having found that through what I know about 8of5, that I would feel uncomfortable to contact him there, when he doesn't respond via my usual channels to him.

I mean, I don't think the people here wondering about 8of5 are worried in the sense of "oh no the website will disappear". They aren't saying he has an obligation and are demanding an explanation. I think that rather they're worried about him as a person because it's an uncharacteristic absence, and they want to know if he's all right. It's concern for another human being, not concern about the potential of losing an entertainment/news outlet.

Not to bring this up again, but I was informed by a reliable source today that they also can confirm 8of5 is alive and well, and just seems to have stopped working on the Trek Collective website for some unknown reason. So with two people seeming to have found him still kicking around out there, perhaps someday he will start his site back up, and if not at least we don't have to worry about him.

I need to find a good new place to follow news about the Official Starship Collection, another of my favorite features on the Trek Collective.

And at one point I was excited about the Drex Files in Exile but that never really took off.
