I'd prefer being a Star Trek captain. I certainly wouldn't want to be a robot, giant or otherwise. On the other hand, I know all about Trek, I want to explore the Universe and I love miniskirts.

I guess it depends on whether we're talking about being these characters in our real world, or in the worlds that the characters come from.
If we're talking about the real world, I'd rather be a starship captain. The utility of a starship to improve the world, defend it from external threats, and explore space would be awesome.
If we're talking about living in their worlds, I'd rather be Spike in his Headmaster suit, able to become the head of Cerebros, and then further able to control or, in robot mode, become the head of Fortress Maximus. In the Star Trek universe, I'd be just another ship captain, but as Spike/Fort Max, I could make a real difference in the Transformers universe - and still live a somewhat human life some of the time.

If by Star Trek captain, you mean *any* captain (not just Starfleet), I'd have to pick that. I think I'd make a good civilian freighter captain.

It problem says something very telling about my psyche, but I'd really like to be a robot. In fact I agree with Q. Being like Data is the ultimate achievement.

Let's see, giant fifty foot tall robots who apparently have sex drives and opposite robo-sexes yet lack the proper size-proportionate equipment to get the job done (except maybe Devastator and that college sexbot), thus explaining their endless wars borne of sexual frustration, or the captain of a starship who has a blue or green chick in every spaceport?
Boy, tough call, but I'm going to have to go with the anatomically correct guy who can actually get laid.
Oh, and exploration, broadening our horizons, and all that guff...
