What would you like to see Jonathan Frakes direct next?

Although it has been a while since Jonathan Frakes directed a feature film, he has continued to work as a Director in television, directing both TV episodes of popular shows (like NCIS) and TV movies (the Librarian series on TNT). Althoung Star Trek: Insurrection wasn't as big a hit as First Contact (due mainly to the poor script), it was well directed. I really feel Jonathan should be directing more feature films. So I put this question out to everyone: if you were a Hollywood Producer, what film (or type of film) would you want to see Jonathan direct next?

Personally, I would love to see him direct a Marvel comics movie. Something like the Captain America sequel would be a good fit for him I think. In the 1970s, Frakes actually worked for Marvel Comics, appearing at conventions in costume as Captain America(!), so I think that would be pretty cool (and funny) if he ended up directing a Captain America movie. I would also love to see him direct a future Trek movie.

I didn't see anything terribly unique or interesting about his directing style in FC or Insurrection myself. It was servicable and he told the story well, but these still felt like glorified TV episodes in the end.

He could probably do a mean Kentucky Fried Chicken commercial...

Jonathan's done several episodes of TNT's "Leverage" and ABC's "V"as well.

He did one of them at the facility I work at.
One helluva nice guy!

I like Jonathan, I really do. So I think he should direct whatever he wants to. He deserves it. He is a nice guy!

Maybe a sequel to Clockstoppers.

Actually, in all seriousness, he should have gotten Brent Spiner to play the villain in that movie, even though Michael Biehn is badass.

See, I for one did not believe Insurrection had a poor script, so I take issue with you there from the getgo. I do think he should have directed Nemesis, maybe do another Trek episode like Levar Burton did for EnT but that ship has sailed.

I would like to see Frakes direct a fantasy film series, something in the vein of Harry Potter.

Insurrection was a TV episode that had a lot of filler. It did advance the plot of the Dominion War (The Son'a and their Ketracel White facilities), but beyond that it was just a big screen TV episode. It could have been a little more adventurous.

I think he did a great job with what he had, and the acting was much better than Nemesis, but it was lacking. First Contact was stellar, and it was impressive that it was his first theatrical directing job, because the tone of a film is so different from the tone of a TV show.

Agreed, Insurrection works best as a stand-alone made for TV Movie but it is a good movie nonetheless. Nemesis doesn't even have that. I have watched and rewatched Nemesis in the past but it really feels more like a high school reunion piece with little script. Like the cast and crew actually believed they could get away with a TNG movie with just having the cast assembled and filming them.

I would rather be forced to watch Nemesis in a loop for eternity than be exposed to Insurrection one more time.

Let's put that to the test. I'll get the gun.

Anybody got some rope we can tie him down with?

Seriously though, I feel the same way. Although, I'd rather watch Insurrection that say, New BSG again.

Before I vote for something new for him to do, I'd like a satisfactory explanation for the train wreck that was Thunderbirds, something I had really been looking forward to until it started playing.
