What would you do,if aliens attacked your own city?

If not it's time to get to a manhole and get underground. The Artilleryman may have lost the plot somewhat, but his idea of hiding in the sewers to escape the notice of Aliens has a lot of merit.

Until the aliens decide they like the sewer system and start using it for their own wastes...

1) Get as many friends/family/neighbors to shelter as possible. Underground if possible, concrete reinforced building at a minimum.

2) Stockpile food(that can be cooked/eaten without an oven or power), find a source of fresh water.

3) Stockpile and inventory medical supplies, weapons, ammunition.

4) Establish communication with higher, be it local, state or federal authorities.

5) Hand-pick some of the younger(preferably single) men, military veterans preferred. Form a scouting party.

6) Begin reconnaissance of the outside world and if possible ascertain the disposition of Alien forces.

7) Using the SALUTE(S=Size, A=Activity, L=Location, U=Unit{Likely omit that one}, T=Time, E=Equipment) format, report to higher all Alien actions.

8) Await instructions.

I'm military, so I'd be a part of the defense plans as long as the national government held up.

I would be like, "thank you aliens".

A lot of my city couldn't look any more bombed out than it already does, and a lot of the people would deserve getting wiped out.

I'd transport up to their ship in a blue box that was bigger on the inside, dazzle them with some esoteric alien knowledge, and offer them one chance to leave peacefully. Inevitably, I would be forced to use my massive brain to either talk my way out of the situation or use some wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey solution to disable all their weapons.

Or I'd...you know...just die...

First off check that family and friends are okay, and find out where I can fight back, or do something to help those who are fighting.

Probably run and hide...any aliens advanced enough to travel here and attack would be too powerful to even bother fighting. If they were peaceful I'd pull a Richard Dreyfus and go exploring.
