What would the Dominion had gained, had they won the war?

It's weird though. Significant chunks of both the Gamma (Dominion) and Delta (Borg) quadrants have probably been "brought under control" , yet no indication of any godlike being taking action -- only when they crossed the wormhole into the AQ (and Sisko had to plead for that). Does the Alpha Quadrant have a special place in the heart of godlike beings, and don't they care about these other quadrants? (Oh, and by 'godlike beings' , I'm not referring to the writers).

Yes. Even just in the original series, the Enterprise met the Organians and Trelane's species. Then in TNG we quickly met the Q and the Borg. Why don't godlike beings hang out with the Founders sometime?

Not that I think any of those godlike beings are interested in being the cops for the Founders and other non-godlike species. That would be like humans trying to referee a fight between rival colonies of fire ants. It would be low on the list of things they care about.

Regarding how the Founders developed technology to their level?
They are shapeshifters.
They are natural manipulators and are willing to play the long game if necessary.
I‘ve no doubt, they had their ways to make other do the work for them.

also, as we learned, an experienced Changeling could shapeshifting into a functional starship.

If you can imitate that, it‘s probably not hard to understand it, either.

Clarification on that "Odo is from MU" idea.

In the S31 novel "Disavowed", we get to see the Mirror Dominion. They still have their empire, incl. Vorta & Jem'Hadar but are guided slightly more by the idea of order than the idea of control. Bashir endures being put on a Dominion court and is found not guilty - despite expecting a kangaroo court, the mirror Founders value justice. Bashir and Mirror Female Changeling conclude that Prime Odo is more like the mirror Founders in temperament, and MU Odo more like the Prime Founders, so they joke the Odos might have swapped places.

On this forum, the writer later stressed the point it was only a philosophical line, and not meant to be taken literally. "Our" Odo is Prime Odo.
